Product Owner - Enterprise Data

Thrivent is looking for a Product Owner - Enterprise Data to join an onsite, cross-functional team in Minneapolis, MN. In this role within the Enterprise Data Products organization, you will help define direction through discovery, prioritize customer needs, and support continuous delivery of trusted, scalable enterprise data products across corporate functions.

You will work closely with a Product Manager and a range of stakeholders to ensure product priorities align with Thrivent’s roadmap, while maintaining a product backlog that supports maximum business value. Your focus will include evolving the product roadmap, engaging with customers and users to surface explicit and implicit needs, and tracking value drivers to communicate product performance to business leaders.

What you’ll do

• Serve as a key member of a cross-functional, agile product team focused on continuous delivery of value through customer-centered experiences.
• Collaborate with the Product Manager and stakeholders to align prioritization with organizational priorities and the overall product roadmap, while providing product development feedback and direction.
• Continuously innovate and evolve the product in alignment with strategic priorities, including creating, maintaining, and evolving the product roadmap.
• Maintain and refine the product backlog by creating user stories and acceptance criteria, and prioritizing work based on maximum business value and product strategy.
• Ensure stories clearly communicate customer and stakeholder needs aligned to key business objectives; be available for consultation during agile planning and grooming sessions.
• Coordinate with other product teams and owners to align roadmaps and sprint plans to maximize value delivered to the organization.
• Engage with customers and users regularly to uncover implicit and explicit needs.
• Develop and track key value drivers that measure effectiveness of product discovery and overall product performance, and communicate results to stakeholders and business leaders.
• Demonstrate urgency in achieving goals and leverage available resources to address unexpected obstacles.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 4 to 6 years of relevant business experience
• Experience supporting enterprise data products, analytics, reporting, governance, or data platform initiatives in financial services or other highly regulated industries
• Proven ability to define and measure product value through business outcomes, adoption, usage, quality, efficiency, or customer impact
• Experience partnering with business leaders, data engineers, architects, analysts, and technical delivery teams
• Understanding of iterative development and software development processes and procedures
• Familiarity with Agile product management, stakeholder management, market and user research, technology management, and process design
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, translate business problems into actionable product priorities, and facilitate alignment across multiple stakeholder groups
• Strong prioritization and tradeoff-management skills across competing stakeholder needs
• Ability to influence without direct authority across business and technology teams
• Passion and understanding of emerging technology and trends
• Strong communication abilities across seniority levels and disciplines

Preferred qualifications

• Certified Product Owner or similar certification
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, or similar technologies
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, data quality, lineage, or master data management
• Experience developing business cases, roadmaps, and product execution strategies
• Experience defining high-quality business requirements and writing Agile user stories
• Experience using foundational product management tools, techniques, and principles across discovery, design, build, release, and measure
• Strong leadership skills to coordinate and motivate product teams, including outside direct reporting relationships
• Experience working in large, complex organizational initiatives

Compensation and location

• Location: Minneapolis, MN (onsite)
• Salary range (full-time): $114,731 - $155,224 per year
