Product Owner – Hardware & Equipment

Eccalon LLC is hiring a Product Owner to shape and deliver hardware and equipment products from early concept through series production in Detroit, MI.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap, aligned to company strategy
• Collect and structure requirements from customers, market research, and internal teams
• Run competitive analysis to surface opportunities for innovation
• Convert requirements into epics, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria
• Prioritize the product backlog while balancing value, risk, cost, and time to market
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and supply chain teams
• Act as the primary liaison between technical teams, customers, and leadership
• Represent product priorities in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and planning sessions
• Evaluate trade-offs across technical solutions, manufacturability, cost, and quality
• Oversee the full product lifecycle from design through production readiness
• Track product progress, team performance, and key metrics
• Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and impediments
• Provide regular stakeholder and leadership updates
• Ensure goals, priorities, and dependencies stay transparent across teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification
• 3–5+ years of professional experience in hardware product development, electronics development, systems engineering, or technical project management
• Strong understanding of PCB design, electronic assemblies, EMC, mechanics, power supply, manufacturing processes, component availability, and cost considerations
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum, SAFe, and Kanban, plus product backlog management
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
