Product Owner I - Data Science Platforms
Job Description
Liberty Mutual is hiring a Product Owner I within Enterprise Data & Data Science to help Data Scientists build, deploy, and operate AI/ML solutions through shared platforms and reusable capabilities. In this hybrid role, you will partner with product, data science, and technology stakeholders to shape strategy, roadmaps, metrics, and prioritized backlogs.
Role Overview
As a Product Owner I, you will represent the needs of Data Scientists and other platform users and translate those requirements into actionable product capabilities. You will use customer insights, product analytics, and technology considerations to guide planning and execution across Agile delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the voice of Data Scientists and other platform users by building a strong understanding of workflows, requirements, and pain points.
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmaps by integrating customer insights, product analytics, technology constraints, and organizational priorities.
- Define and apply product metrics and analytics to evaluate platform usage, adoption, customer experience, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders to convert customer needs and product priorities into prioritized capabilities and improvements.
- Collect customer feedback and use data, product metrics, and user insights to influence prioritization and product decisions.
- Support the evaluation and adoption of technologies and capabilities that improve the data science development and model lifecycle experience.
- Identify ways to simplify workflows, improve user experience, and increase adoption of reusable platform capabilities and best practices.
- Develop and maintain prioritized product backlogs, including features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, in partnership with aligned delivery teams.
- Participate in quarterly planning, demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to support delivery.
- Communicate priorities, progress, decisions, and outcomes to stakeholders across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of Product Owner experience.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and product management practices.
- Experience working with technology teams, with level determined based on relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use data and customer insights to identify opportunities and guide decisions.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Curiosity and an experimental mindset, with a demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and approaches.
- Interest in data science, machine learning, AI, data platforms, or developer/platform experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with data, analytics, data science, software engineering, or technology platforms.
- Familiarity with modern data and AI technologies such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, or similar platforms.

Work Location and Schedule
This role is hybrid with 2 days onsite. Liberty Mutual is considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Indianapolis, IN, Remote, and Columbus, OH.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is USD 94,000 - 174,000 per year.
