What you will work on

As the Senior Design Manager for Headwear, you will take a guiding role in shaping Nike headwear products, blending hands-on design with team leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You will create authentic, functional, and contemporary headwear that resonates with consumers and drive projects from research and concept through final execution, strengthening the headwear design function.

Who you’ll work with

You will shepherd the creative process through the design season in collaboration with a team of Designers, Developers, Product Managers, and Merchants, delivering work that aligns with the Nike Design philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Nike headwear products, combining hands-on design with team guidance.
  • Create authentic, functional, and modern headwear that meets consumer needs.
  • Drive projects from research and concept to final execution while growing the headwear design function.
  • Guide creative work through the design season in collaboration with cross-disciplinary partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Accessories Design.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team.
  • Proven track record designing headwear such as caps, hats, visors, beanies, and functional headgear.
  • Ability to own projects end-to-end from inspiration research to production-ready designs.
  • Strong material and construction knowledge including fabrics, trims, closures, and technical details.
  • Awareness of fit, ergonomics, ventilation, and weather protection in headwear design.
  • Knowledge of knitting techniques for headwear, including yarn selection, rib structures, and engineered knit.
  • Skilled in sketching and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Portfolio showing authentic headwear design with demonstrated functionality and consumer relevance.
  • Strong collaboration skills with development, materials, and cross-category design partners.
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and curious about solving real product challenges.
  • Interest or experience in sustainability topics and materials.
  • Passion for sports and analyzing product utility to elevate user experience.
