Senior Product Owner
Job Description
Leidos is hiring a Senior Product Owner to join an Agile Scrum team embedded in the development of unmanned and autonomous ship capabilities for the US Government. This onsite role in Arlington, VA is built for product leaders who can translate strategy into a clear vision, keep delivery aligned to stakeholder needs, and help teams evaluate progress iteration by iteration. Responsibilities
- Define and communicate product vision as the point person for the product development team, using a high-level perspective to set goals and guide development projects.
- Align stakeholders and teams by communicating with customers, business area points of contact, and the development team to ensure goals stay clear and the vision matches business objectives.
- Own and manage the product backlog, including creating backlog items, prioritizing them against strategy and business objectives, and mapping dependencies to support the correct development sequence.
- Prioritize needs based on scope, time, and stakeholder objectives.
- Oversee development stages across planning, refinement, review, and sprint events to support successful delivery.
- Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and the team.
- Evaluate product progress each iteration, taking a primary role in inspecting and assessing the work through each stage and the final product.
- Support release planning by leading product release plans, setting delivery expectations for new functionality, overseeing release execution to meet quality standards, and keeping stakeholders informed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university plus 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as computer science, software engineering, or systems engineering.
- Experience performing implementation of engineering methods and practices.
- Experience using the Atlassian tool suite.
- Proven communication skills in written and verbal forms, with the ability to communicate at all levels (up, down, and parallel).
- Proven ability to build collaboration across organizations.
- Ability to interact effectively with and lead diverse teams.
- Desire to work with end users to determine product validity and improvement areas.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Full time onsite support in Arlington, VA.

Preferred qualifications
- CSPO or PSPO certification
- Previous experience as a Product Owner or similar role in agile environments
- Experience with Department of Defense customers
- Experience with people leadership and managing direct reports
- Active Secret Security Clearance preferred
