Software Product Manager, Design Automation Software

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize the most impactful problems through a deep understanding of customers and their needs.
• Define metrics to measure business impact and use data to guide prioritization decisions.
• Articulate the product vision, strategy, and an outcome-focused roadmap.
• Prepare actionable epics, user stories, and bug work items.
• Collaborate with the Technical Lead to maintain a prioritized backlog that balances business outcomes with work enabling reliable, sustainable delivery of customer value.
• Validate that delivered solutions meet the intended business objectives by applying predefined measures.
• Coordinate software releases, including release notes, documentation, training, and internal marketing.

Requirements

• Degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
• Experience managing software development, with software product manager experience strongly preferred.
• Strong emphasis on user-centered design and measurable outcomes.
• Experience in an organization that designs and manufactures complex hardware products preferred.
• Experience with mechanical design engineering processes preferred.
• Experience creating operational metrics and dashboards preferred.

What to expect

Tesla’s Vehicle Engineering department brings together thousands of top engineers focused on vehicle, battery, and manufacturing innovations. These professionals handle the mechanical and industrial design across major programs such as batteries, Optimus, Robotaxi, and new factories. Design Technology, a part of Vehicle Engineering, builds the tools these engineers rely on, making them as capable and adaptive as the products themselves. As a Software Product Manager on the Design Technology team, you will steer the development of software applications that automate or streamline portions of the design process.

Expected compensation

Base salary range: $112,000 – $264,000 per year, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional elements dependent on the position. Details about participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employment offer is extended.
