Space Force System Engineering Product Owner & Technical Lead
Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems seeks a Space Force System Engineering Product Owner and Technical Lead in Scottsdale, AZ (remote), blending product management, technical direction, and people leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own and articulate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a defined subsystem topic, ensuring alignment with program goals.
- Partner with Development Leads to preserve architectural integrity and enable technical capabilities; arbitrate decisions when required.
- Interface with customers, stakeholders, and Product Management to translate the technical solution into a clear, actionable plan.
- Direct line management of a senior engineering team, handling performance reviews, career growth, and mentorship.
- Oversee multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring their work aligns with the overarching vision and priorities.
- Promote cross-IPT collaboration, manage interdependencies, and remove blockers to enable smooth integration and delivery.
- Drive ownership, accountability, and execution discipline across engineering groups and IPTs.
- Allocate resources effectively and structure teams for optimal performance.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of formal people management experience, guiding engineering teams.
- Proven track record leading several cross-functional teams or IPTs within a large, complex development program.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience plus at least 8 years of relevant supervisory experience, or a Master’s degree plus at least 6 years of experience.
Clearance requirements
- Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred within a reasonable period after hire. Applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.
Workplace options
- This position can be fully remote/telework, fully on-site, or hybrid.
- On-site work is part of the SDA program located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Salary note
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. Combined Salary Range: USD 150,314 - 170,285 per year.
