Sr. Hardware Product Manager
Job Description
The Sr. Hardware Product Manager will lead and evolve a connected access control hardware portfolio for community environments, aligning product strategy, financial ownership, and go-to-market execution with cloud and mobile software experiences.
Overview
Own a hardware portfolio spanning Smart Video Intercoms, Door Controllers, and Smart Readers from launch through cost-down and end-of-life. Drive a multi-year hardware roadmap that powers and extends connected cloud-based and mobile software functionality, while managing hardware portfolio performance and channel execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the connected access hardware portfolio across the full lifecycle, from launch through cost-down and end-of-life.
- Own portfolio P&L, including cost (BOM and landed cost), pricing, and margin performance measured in dollars and percent, and report results against plan.
- Set channel go-to-market strategy for distribution channels, partnering with Sales and Channel leadership on pricing, positioning, and launch execution.
- Manage weeks-of-supply and align demand and supply with sourcing and manufacturing partners.
- Make build-vs-partner recommendations for new hardware capabilities in partnership with Pricing and Partnerships.
- Define and own the multi-year hardware roadmap that enables and extends cloud-based and mobile software experiences.
- Lead recurring cross-functional syncs with software product managers and engineering to ensure firmware timelines do not block software feature delivery.
- Lead new hardware development end to end, including requirements, business case, and execution with engineering, industrial design, and supply chain.
- Ensure new hardware meets applicable compliance and certification requirements (for example, UL and FCC) as well as reliability standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in hardware or consumer electronics product management, including at least 3 years with direct P&L or commercial ownership for a hardware product line.
- Working knowledge of embedded systems, connectivity (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular), and hardware compliance and certification processes.
- Proven ability to partner with firmware and software engineering teams to align hardware and software release timelines.
- Experience developing channel or distribution go-to-market strategy for hardware products.
- Bonus: background in access control, physical security, or multifamily/PropTech hardware.
