Sr Principal Software Engineer – SW Engr Product Owner (26-306)
Job Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to serve as the SW Engr Product Owner for the C2BMC program, onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will partner with the C2BMC-G software team to shape the product vision, manage the roadmap and backlog, and drive the development of innovative solutions for Missile Defense projects. This position emphasizes technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to adapt to evolving requirements in a fast-paced defense environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the C2BMC-G software development team to develop and test innovative solutions that support Missile Defense Agency projects and experiments.
- Define and oversee the product's vision, roadmap, and backlog to ensure it delivers value to users and aligns with business objectives.
- Understand customer needs, prioritize features, and work with development teams to deliver successful product releases.
- Non-standard work hours may be required during event execution, and travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
- Current, active DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs.
- Proven contributions to object-oriented software development and testing, including the ability to translate high-level needs into a structured set of requirements that culminate in a fielded product.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with experience in presenting technical methods and writing and executing engineering plans within projects.
- Proven skills in the following areas:
- Development of new software capabilities
- Java or other object-oriented languages for software development
- Principles and patterns of object-oriented development
- Creation of comprehensive and reproducible tests
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to convey desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and system users
- Comfort with rapidly changing requirements, design challenges requiring novel solutions, fast-paced work, and tight deadlines
