Job Description

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to serve as the SW Engr Product Owner for the C2BMC program, onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will partner with the C2BMC-G software team to shape the product vision, manage the roadmap and backlog, and drive the development of innovative solutions for Missile Defense projects. This position emphasizes technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to adapt to evolving requirements in a fast-paced defense environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the C2BMC-G software development team to develop and test innovative solutions that support Missile Defense Agency projects and experiments.
  • Define and oversee the product's vision, roadmap, and backlog to ensure it delivers value to users and aligns with business objectives.
  • Understand customer needs, prioritize features, and work with development teams to deliver successful product releases.
  • Non-standard work hours may be required during event execution, and travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
  • Current, active DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs.
  • Proven contributions to object-oriented software development and testing, including the ability to translate high-level needs into a structured set of requirements that culminate in a fielded product.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with experience in presenting technical methods and writing and executing engineering plans within projects.
  • Proven skills in the following areas:
    • Development of new software capabilities
    • Java or other object-oriented languages for software development
    • Principles and patterns of object-oriented development
    • Creation of comprehensive and reproducible tests
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to convey desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and system users
    • Comfort with rapidly changing requirements, design challenges requiring novel solutions, fast-paced work, and tight deadlines
