Sr Product Manager II, Data Product Management
Job Description
Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Sr Product Manager II to own the measurement strategy and instrumentation across ESPN’s digital properties. This onsite role in Bristol, CT sits at the crossroads of analytics and engineering, ensuring trusted data for analytics, reporting, and experimentation across web, mobile, and connected TV. You will guide the end-to-end instrumentation lifecycle, from defining what gets measured to delivering well-documented data that downstream teams can rely on.
Salary: USD 155,700 - 208,700 per year. Location: Bristol, CT (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Lead the instrumentation strategy for ESPN digital products, shaping measurement goals, schema design, and end-to-end delivery across web, mobile, and connected TV; manage the full lifecycle from definition to validation support and downstream data usability.
- Be accountable for data collection outcomes within your instrumentation domain, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and usability.
- Define what gets measured, why it matters, and how behavioral signals and event schemas support analytics, reporting, and experimentation needs.
- Translate stakeholder questions into precise instrumentation specs — events, parameters, identifiers, and schemas — enabling unambiguous cross-platform implementation by engineers.
- Drive instrumentation from discovery through launch, coordinating delivery across Product Engineering, Analytics Engineering, QA, and Platform partners.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure correct instrumentation implementation and adherence to platform standards, bridging measurement intent and technical reality.
- Hands-on configuration and operation of the analytics platform stack, including implementation, maintenance, and optimization to support reliable, self-service analysis.
- Proactively identify instrumentation gaps and drive resolution through sharper specs, stronger validation, and tight coordination with engineering and QA.
- Use data to audit tagging and tracking health, surface improvement opportunities, and shape future measurement decisions.
- Mentor peer product managers and share instrumentation expertise across the team.
- Bring deep technical fluency in data collection and instrumentation, sound judgment on meaningful metrics, and the ability to align engineers, analysts, and business leaders with a strong commitment to data quality.
Requirements
- 7+ years in analytics instrumentation, data product management, or analytics engineering, with a proven record of owning outcomes.
- Hands-on experience designing event-based data models and instrumentation schemas across web, mobile, and connected TV, including event taxonomies, parameter design, identifier strategies, and implementable data contracts.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into precise instrumentation specifications, closing the gap between stakeholder needs and engineering output.
- SQL fluency and hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or equivalent) to validate data quality, investigate anomalies, and own analyses.
- Experience configuring and operating enterprise analytics platforms at scale, owning implementation, validation, and maintenance beyond strategy.
- Proven ability to orchestrate cross-functional instrumentation delivery across Product Engineering, Analytics, QA, and platform partners.
- Bias for action and an ownership mindset; capable of solving problems end-to-end and presenting measurement strategy to senior leadership.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools as a practical multiplier in daily work.
- Clear, precise communication: technical specifications, accessible explanations of tradeoffs for non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to influence across engineering, product, and analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, analytics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
