The University of Michigan is hiring a Product Manager for an onsite, full-time role based on the Ann Arbor campus. In this position, you will guide the end-to-end product lifecycle, set product vision and strategy, and help shape AI-enabled product designs within Agile ways of working.
This role sits within the Institute for Social Research (ISR), within the ICPSR-Computing and Network department, supporting a mission grounded in varied disciplines, perspectives, and ways of knowing and learning.
What you’ll do
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept through design, development, launch, and continuous improvement.
- Catalyze product progress by translating ideas into delivery and ongoing refinement.
- Define product vision and strategy, including long-term roadmap direction and success metrics aligned with the University’s mission and user needs.
- Translate strategy into execution by using insights, data, and feedback to support prioritization and decision-making in Agile environments.
- Plan and lead user research, stakeholder interviews, and discovery activities to identify user needs, value propositions, and design opportunities (including running workshops).
- Partner with engineering, design, and operations teams to align priorities, improve workflows, and support smooth design-to-development handoffs.
- Advance AI-enabled product designs.
- Collaborate with teams exploring AI-led technologies to support responsible and user-centered integration.
What you bring
- A Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Management, or Information.
- 36 months of experience as a Product Designer.
- 36 months facilitating design sprints, collaborative ideation, and feature prioritization workshops.
- 36 months working on Agile software development teams with engineers, designers, and subject matter experts.
- 36 months partnering with engineering, design, data, and operations teams to align priorities, improve workflows, and ensure smooth requirements-to-delivery handoffs within Agile teams.
- 12 months designing AI-enabled products.
- Experience requirements may be met concurrently during the same time period.
