Job Description

The Associate, Product Manager role on BlackRock’s Technology Product team supports technology infrastructure and data processes while contributing to the scaling of an investment platform. You will own product delivery activities from early planning through launch, bridging business needs with technical implementation.

Role Overview

Within the Technology Product team, this position helps manage the product development lifecycle for technology and data-focused initiatives. The role translates business requirements into technical specifications, analyzes large datasets to support decisions, and coordinates across product leads, architects, and engineers to drive execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product development lifecycle from conception through launch, maintaining technical quality and alignment to standard methodologies
  • Collaborate with team members to gather detailed data requirements and produce technical specifications for developers
  • Prioritize and align the roadmap to commercial goals
  • Support engineering teams by helping triage and prioritize critical issues
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to inform decision-making
  • Create clear, impactful presentations that communicate complex concepts and project updates to team members, stakeholders, and executive leadership
  • Navigate the organizational structure effectively by building relationships and using networks to support successful project outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in financial services in data product management or a technical track
  • Strong understanding of data engineering and application development
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP or CSPO (or equivalent) are a plus

About This Role

This role centers on translating business requirements into technology specifications and operating processes. It also focuses on supporting technology infrastructure and data processes in order to scale an investment platform.

Additional Skills and Experience

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps, as well as collaboration and communication tools
  • Proficiency with data analytics and visualization tools, including Power BI
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, and SQL, plus exposure to data frameworks like Hadoop
  • Experience with data engineering practices, including data pipeline design, ETL processes, and real-time data processing is a plus
  • Familiarity with API integrations, cloud computing platforms, and large-scale data storage solutions is desirable but not required

Compensation and Location

Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid).
Salary: USD 132,500 - 162,500 per year.

Hybrid Work Model

Employees are required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with flexibility to work from home 1 day per week. Some business groups may require additional time onsite based on role responsibilities.
