AVP, Product Owner, IT Data
Job Description
Own and ship Data + AI underwriting capabilities that improve Allied World’s end-to-end underwriting lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Set and execute product vision, roadmap, and OKRs for Data + AI underwriting capabilities, including GenAI copilots, agentic workflows, predictive models, and the AIDA insights ecosystem (Broker 360, Client 360, Underwriter Analytics, Claims Analytics).
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, and Distribution leaders to identify and deliver high-value AI use cases such as submission intake automation, intelligent risk scoring, rate adequacy intelligence, exposure analytics, and broker engagement.
- Lead the complete product lifecycle from discovery through prioritization, user stories, sprint execution, UAT, launch, and adoption, partnering with engineering, data science, and design pods.
- Act as the underwriter advocate to engineering and as the platform voice to senior leadership.
- Run monthly Data + AI product reviews with senior stakeholders and maintain clear decision-making cadence.
- Drive model governance, explainability, data quality, and compliance by working with Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and Legal.
- Define adoption and business value metrics, including ROI, and track outcomes continuously.
Requirements
- 7+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with 3+ years shipping Data, Analytics, or AI/ML products in a regulated enterprise.
- Strong P&C insurance domain depth, including underwriting, rate change, loss ratio, submissions, portfolio mix, and authority statements.
- Proven AI delivery experience delivering GenAI, ML models, NLP, or agentic AI from proof of concept to production at scale.
- Executive-grade communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders and write user stories that teams can execute.
- Agile execution strength: backlog discipline, sprint rigor, and outcome-focused delivery.
- Technical fluency with SQL, Python, and modern data stacks such as Databricks, Azure, and AWS, plus Power BI and LLM/AI platforms.

Nice-to-Haves

Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s strongly preferred in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Agile Product Owner Certification (CSPO / SAFe POPM) highly preferred.
Location: New Jersey (onsite). Compensation: USD 170,000 - 175,000 per year.
