Job Description

USAA is seeking a Senior Bank Agile Product Owner to partner with the Bank agile team on backlog prioritization, delivery of business outcomes, and representation of the voice of the customer and end-user. The role focuses on translating strategy into product vision, driving OKRs, and continuously improving execution while managing risks and impediments.

Role Focus

The Senior Bank Agile Product Owner is accountable for communicating and driving vision and strategy across key stakeholders and Bank agile team members. This position supports alignment with the Team-of-Teams Lead, translates business understanding into backlog direction, and ensures acceptance criteria are clearly defined based on business requirements and customer needs. The role also serves as the end-user voice through proactive customer feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for communicating and driving the vision and strategy effectively to key stakeholders and Bank agile team members.
  • Ensure delivery of quality product and member experience solutions by collaborating with stakeholders to determine business needs.
  • Work closely with the Team-of-Teams Lead to clarify and drive alignment on business strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Translate this alignment into a clear vision for the Bank agile team to inform the creation and prioritization of the team backlog.
  • Partner with the Team-of-Teams Lead to define and clearly communicate acceptance criteria based on business requirements and customer needs.
  • Anticipate and solve complex issues using a data-driven approach, including allocating funds and developing and tracking Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that drive Bank product success.
  • Deliver against Bank agile team level OKRs.
  • Act as the voice of the end-user.
  • Proactively seek customer feedback to understand end-user needs and requirements and ensure end user value is delivered to the marketplace.
  • Own the Bank agile team backlog, including grooming, prioritization, and refinement.
  • Maintain a groomed backlog of user stories and work with the Agile Bank agile team to estimate story size and complexity.
  • Optimize flow of value across a multi-Bank agile team Agile environment by progressing toward objectives, goals, and commitments, removing impediments, resolving conflicts, and managing risks and issues.
  • Develop a strategic perspective on how to meet objectives, offering feedback on work-in-progress and clarifying requirements.
  • Act in service of the Bank agile team’s needs by anticipating and removing roadblocks that may prevent progress on objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the Bank agile team and process, and make recommendations to leadership.
  • May lead functional Bank agile teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 6 years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or directly related experience supporting business operations or product line.
  • Knowledge of multiple technical software delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and SAFe.
  • Advanced experience analyzing business requirements, process flows, and use cases to identify opportunities to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated use of Process Engineering methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable banking, regulatory, compliance policies, including applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.

Location

Compensation

  • Salary range: $103,450 - $197,730 per year.
  • Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
  • Actual salary may vary by location.
