Build & Price Experience Product Owner
Job Description
Caterpillar is hiring a Product Owner for the cat.com Build & Price team. This role connects product configuration and pricing into streamlined customer journeys for both end customers and Cat dealers, co-owning the roadmap and product backlogs while aligning technical delivery with business outcomes.
Role Scope
As the Build & Price Product Owner, you will act as a bridge between technical design and measurable business impact. You will collaborate with the Product Manager and engineering partners to prioritize, sequence, and refine work so development efforts focus on the right customer problems and support business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day contact for the application engineering team by clarifying tasks and refining the product backlog.
- Coordinate with engineering partners to streamline delivery and manage dependencies across platforms.
- Partner with the Product Manager to prioritize and sequence work, ensuring alignment to customer problem-solving and business results.
- Co-own the product roadmap with the Product Manager and define measurable business outcomes.
- Manage, prioritize, and refine the Build & Price and Attachments & Offerings product backlogs, ensuring alignment with product strategy, technical dependencies, and sprint capacity.
Required Knowledge and Capabilities
- Business analysis knowledge, including tasks, techniques, and tools to identify business needs, with the ability to recommend value-driven solutions to stakeholders.
- Understanding of decision-making processes and associated tools and techniques, with the ability to analyze situations and make productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Software change request management knowledge, including the ability to manage change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
- Strategies, practices, and tools for resolving software problems, including managing issues in installed software products.
- Business and operational understanding of a software product, including managing the install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
- UAT knowledge, including tasks, tools, and techniques to design, implement, and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Salary Range
USD 112,710 - 183,140 per year

Considerations for Top Candidates
- Experience working alongside UX and design for customer-facing digital experiences in industries such as heavy equipment, automotive, or other sectors with complex equipment configurations.
- Experience in e-commerce, digital retail, or customer-facing online applications.
- Strong ability to serve as the primary bridge between business and engineering, driving clarity, alignment, and execution.
- Advanced knowledge in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Experience working across the Caterpillar matrix and dealer network, or experience working for a company with a similar distribution model.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience writing Features and User Stories and managing work in Azure DevOps.
- Background in Caterpillar sales planning/demand management and the Construction Industries machine ordering processes.
- Experience working with an onshore/offshore team model.
