Manager, Product Owner – Data Curation
Job Description
The Manager, Product Owner for Data Curation acts as the key bridge between technical data engineering teams and enterprise stakeholders, shaping a prioritized data curation backlog for UDAP.
Responsibilities
- Convert the overall data curation strategy into a cohesive, prioritized product backlog to accelerate business value across analytics, reporting, and external commercial solutions.
- Partner with enterprise stakeholders to gather requirements and prioritize features across real-time client demand and enterprise objectives.
- Use advanced dataset querying skills (for example, BigQuery SQL) for hands-on exploration and prototyping against real data.
- Lead small-scale data proofs-of-concept (POCs) to validate assumptions, define data product concepts, and clearly communicate needs to engineering and technical leads.
- Drive enterprise-wide adoption of the data lakehouse, promoting responsible data domain ownership and consistent platform utilization.
- Run core Agile ceremonies for your Pod: Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning by drafting team PI objectives and identifying cross-pod dependencies within the Agile Release Train.
- Act as a strategic advisory partner across business units to maintain data lakehouse platform standards and strengthen enterprise-grade data management practices.
- Ensure curated data assets meet consumer expectations for quality, usability, and experience by enforcing robust metadata management.
- Implement scalable, reusable, and automated data validation processes to continuously verify curated assets against trusted source systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Product Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or Data Manager in modern enterprise data platform environments (examples listed: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience operating in a SAFe environment is highly preferred (SAFe POPM or CSPO certifications are a strong plus).
- Proficiency in querying data (for example, SQL basics) to validate assumptions, troubleshoot issues, and support data-informed decisions.
- Deep understanding of the complete trade lifecycle and financial derivatives, including futures and options, with knowledge of market liquidity, order book mechanics, post-trade processing, clearing workflows, and risk management inputs.
