Principal AI Product Manager, Technical
Job Description
T-Mobile USA, Inc. is building enterprise-grade AI capabilities that can move from early concepts to commercial outcomes. In this hybrid role based in Bellevue, WA, the Principal AI Technical Product Manager leads end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and delivery for complex AI products and reusable AI services, aligning technical execution with measurable business results.
Role scope
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and product lifecycle for enterprise AI products and reusable AI capabilities serving multiple customer journeys, business units, or platforms.
- Lead multi-year product investment planning, including business cases, funding requests, and prioritization across a portfolio of AI initiatives.
- Define and track success metrics tied to ambitious growth targets and outcomes.
- Drive measurable business impact across areas such as revenue growth, cost reduction, adoption, retention, automation impact, and customer experience improvement.
Customer and market discovery
- Conduct deep customer research and market analysis to identify breakthrough AI opportunities.
- Lead customer discovery and validation for new AI products, including testing ideas with real customers to confirm desired benefits.
- Create and manage an active VOC feed for the role and the team, and actively look for opportunities to meet customer unmet needs.
Technical product execution
- Write detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for AI-powered features for highest-complexity products with many transactions and touchpoints.
- Use rapid hypothesis-driven experimentation, including paper prototype approaches and A/B testing, to inform direction and investment priorities.
- Design and execute rapid prototyping and MVP development cycles, followed by user testing and iteration based on feedback.
- Collaborate with Technical Architects and engineering teams to ensure AI solutions are feasible and scalable, including alignment on technical debt and long-term investment.
- Translate platform and product strategy into features and stories Dev teams can execute, including potential creation of prototypes.
AI strategy, planning, and portfolio decisions
- Anticipate AI trends and competitive threats, incorporating insights into product strategy and ongoing processes.
- Conduct analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to identify innovation opportunities or root causes, assess opportunity size and impact, and partner with data scientists when needed.
- Define strategy for foundational AI platform capabilities, tooling, and reusable services that accelerate delivery across multiple teams.
- Secure and maintain product funding by working with stakeholders and following enterprise processes.
Collaboration, communication, and external presence
- Communicate, influence, and “sell” ideas at SVP/EVP/C-level and below, including regularly delivering product presentations.
- Represent T-Mobile externally with strategic partners, industry groups, and executive customers on AI innovation strategy and product direction.
- Lead discussions with external third parties regarding partnerships and licensing opportunities.
- Coordinate with GTM and commercialization teams to develop launch strategies, and support sales and marketing with product and technical knowledge.
- Promote product through collaboration with advertising and public relations.
Agile delivery and operational readiness
- Partner with PM and Dev leaders to design effective Agile delivery teams, including work aligned to Agile Release Train and Agile Teams concepts.
- Scope and align prioritization based on business and customer impact, including synchronization across dependencies.
- Generate and maintain dashboards and reports tracking product health, technical KPIs, and success metrics.
- Own production quality and performance expectations, including response and stakeholder communications for critical or high-impact defects.
- Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and provide adoption tools and training materials.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in hands-on technical work writing production code, solution engineering, or technical architecture in a large-scale company, application, or product environment.
- More than 10 years of relevant Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment.
- Demonstrated mastery across business skills (communication, customer research, product vision, feature definition) and technical architecture, Dev, and execution.
- Proven analytical skills to identify, analyze, and synthesize product use data to drive decisions.
- Mastery-level understanding of customer experience.
- Mastery-level understanding of platform technologies and components including security, performance, optimization, and API integration, with expert knowledge of the full technology stack supporting the assigned product.
- Proven success directing matrixed resources and delivering software using Agile Scrum methodologies and common tools across multiple teams.
- Experience working with external partners, vendors, and ecosystem players.
- Expertise in design thinking, lean startup methodologies, rapid prototyping, and hypothesis-driven development.
- Experience with successive elaboration to develop initiatives, features, and user stories usable by DevOps teams.
- Experience delivering large and complex business and technology initiatives as a Product Manager or lead technology role.
- Knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, and protocols such as REST, EDI, and SOAP.
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, capabilities, and limitations, including LLMs, conversational AI, and ML platforms.
- Proficiency with analytics tools and metrics-based product optimization.
- At least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation
- National base pay range: USD 139,700 - 252,000 per year
- Total target cash earnings opportunity: USD 167,640 - 302,400

Work arrangement
- Hybrid role in Bellevue, WA requiring work in the office three (3) days per week.
- This is not a remote position.
- Candidate will be located in either Seattle, Washington or Frisco, Texas areas.
