Product Design Engineer
Job Description
Join Juggernaut Defense at our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters as a Product Design Engineer. This onsite role focuses on building rugged, innovative products for extreme environments, balancing performance with manufacturability and durability, while collaborating across design, manufacturing and validation activities. The position includes a salary of USD 1.00 - 2.00 per year and benefits such as 401(k) matching, health insurance, dental insurance, and paid time off.
What you'll do
- Develop rugged, innovative products used by Special Forces and Coalition Militaries around the globe
- Engineer solutions that balance functionality, manufacturability, and durability for extreme environments
- Iteratively explore concept ideas through visualization and physical interactions while collaborating with the design team using sketching, digital illustration, 3D CAD and renderings, hand-built physical mock-ups, and 3D prints
- Refine concept designs into 3D parametric CAD, including the definition of part break-up with consideration for manufacturing and assembly
- Perform engineering tasks and assignments independently and at the direction of senior engineers
- Collaborate on all new product development activities to generate innovative concepts and solutions for product fit, form and function
- Research, understand, and ensure that the product and its associated mechanical components meets relevant safety and compliance standards
- Plan, execute and document engineering validation tests
- Troubleshoot product and manufacturing defects to determine root cause of failures
- Create and maintain Product Documentation such as assembly instructions, drawings, databases, Engineering Change Orders, BOMs etc
- Design mid-complexity components and systems independently, and higher complexity components and systems with limited supervision
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of product development and manufacturing experience, with experience of the product development process of idea generation through concept development and testing
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Industrial Designers, Electrical Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers during all phases of product development
- Solid background in the design of mechanical components and systems using CAD; Creo experience is highly preferred
- Strong experience designing extremely complex plastic parts for high volume injection molding
- Strong experience with designing CNC housing and components for electrical housings and assemblies
- A deep understanding of fundamental mechanical and design principles
- A demonstrated history of accountability and performance delivery to meet or exceed objectives
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
- Must be a US citizen
