Job Description
Capital One invites applications for a Product Designer to join the Experience Design team in New York, NY on site. This role blends craft expertise with leadership to co-create innovative solutions, influence product strategy, and advance customer-centered design across complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Blend design craft with leadership to understand customer and business needs, co-create innovative solutions, and influence product strategy.
- Product Design Expertise: Demonstrate advanced skill across interaction, visual, and service design; in collaboration with cross-functional partners, determine appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems, and produce artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.
- Leadership: Drive design projects, allocate work for junior designers, build strong partnerships with stakeholders, and mentor to mature Capital One's product design practice.
- Human-Centered: Balance partner and stakeholder needs with data, research insights, scalability, and technical constraints to deliver customer-centered and inclusive design solutions.
- Business-Focused: Apply insights on customers, competitors, and market trends to business challenges, shaping a shared point of view for the team and partners.
- Problem-Solving: Leverage knowledge of technology and data capabilities to inform work and help cross-functional teams move faster while navigating technical limitations for impactful outcomes.
- Collaboration: Foster cross-functional partnerships across lines of business to share solutions and drive product strategy, bridging information gaps as needed.
- Communication: Present work across levels with a human-centered approach, integrating design frameworks, data, and research insights to influence strategic decisions at senior levels.

- Leadership: Lead design projects, direct and delegate work for more junior team members, foster strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor to advance the overall product design practice at Capital One.
- Human-Centered: Navigate partner and stakeholder needs with critical-thinking that factors in data, research insights, scalability, and tech constraints, ensuring a focus on customer-centered and inclusive design.
- Business-Focused: Apply insights on customers, competitors and market trends to business challenges, helping to shape a shared point of view for the team, partners and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 5 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 6 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- Experience working with and contributing to an established design system
- Experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners
- Experience leading design projects or teams
- Experience working in heavily regulated, data heavy problem spaces
