Product Design Manager, Premium Design
Job Description
This on-site Product Design Manager role in Capital One's Premium Design team is based in New York, NY and focuses on crafting customer-centered, end-to-end card experiences while influencing product strategy.
Responsibilities
- Co-create innovative solutions to complex problems and influence product strategy.
- Lead design projects, directing and delegating work for more junior team members, building strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentoring to mature Capital One's product design practice.
- Navigate partner and stakeholder needs using critical thinking that weighs data, research insights, scalability, and technical constraints, while keeping the team focused on inclusive, customer-centered design.
- Apply insights on customers, competitors, and market trends to business challenges to shape a shared point of view for your team and partners.
- Leverage understanding of tech, data capabilities, and emerging technologies to inform work and help cross-functional teams move faster within technical constraints.
- Foster collaboration by partnering across lines of business to bridge information gaps and drive product strategy with cross-functional perspectives.
- Present work across levels and functions using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data, and research insights to influence strategic decisions at senior levels.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 5 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role
- At least 6 years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- Experience working with and contributing to an established design system
- Experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners
- Experience leading design projects or teams
- Experience working in heavily regulated, data heavy problem spaces

Role Expectations
- Overview As a Product Designer, you’ll combine your craft expertise and leadership skills with an understanding of our customers and the business to co-create innovative solutions to complex problems and influence product strategy.
- PRODUCT DESIGN EXPERTISE Demonstrate a high degree of skill in product design across interaction, visual and service design; in collaboration with cross-functional partners, inform the use of appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks and design systems and create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs and prototypes.
- LEADERSHIP Lead design projects, directing and delegating work for more junior team members and building strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders while mentoring and helping to mature the overall product design practice at Capital One.
- HUMAN-CENTERED Navigate the needs of partners and stakeholders using critical-thinking that factors in data, research insights, scalability and tech constraints, while ensuring the team focuses on customer-centered solutions and inclusive design.
