Job Description

IronRidge is seeking an individual contributor Product Manager to grow residential and commercial product segments. This role focuses on optimizing the product portfolio and driving new product development to market by converting market opportunities into clear requirements, business cases, and launch plans.

Location and work style

This is a hybrid position reporting to the Hayward, California office 2 days per week. The role location is Phoenix, AZ (hybrid).

Compensation

The salary range is USD 125,000 - 150,000 per year. Pay and compensation are determined based on relevant experience, skills, education, and location. Base salary is anticipated to be within the stated range in the San Francisco Bay Area market.

Role summary

In this position, you will translate opportunities into requirements and business cases while partnering cross-functionally to improve revenue and gross margin. The scope includes product portfolio decisions, new product development, pricing strategy, and lifecycle planning for assigned product lines.

What you will do

  • Develop a deep understanding of customers, business drivers, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and guide product decisions
  • Monitor and track commercial performance for assigned product lines, including revenue, gross margin, pricing, competitive positioning, product mix, and lifecycle decisions
  • Run customer research and VOC activities to identify unmet needs, validate opportunities, and translate insights into product and market requirements
  • Partner with cross-functional NPI teams to bring new products to market aligned with strategic, financial, and customer objectives
  • Create MRDs/PRDs, business cases, and make versus buy versus partner recommendations for new product opportunities
  • Evaluate trade-offs across time, features, and resources to meet product launch and business objectives
  • Use product analytics, BI tools, market data, and financial performance to support growth, margin improvement, and portfolio optimization
  • Support product strategy and roadmap development for assigned product lines
  • Recommend pricing strategies using cost, competitive positioning, customer value, and margin objectives
  • Conduct customer interviews, internal product reviews, and participate in cross-functional decision-making with confidence and credibility
  • Coordinate launches, transitions, forecasting, build planning, and EOL activities across Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management
  • Travel approximately 15% for customers, distribution partners, trade shows, and company locations

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product management, product development, engineering, or a related role, including experience owning engineered physical products
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Hands-on, ownership-oriented mentality with an interest in solar and clean energy
  • Proven track record managing and launching successful products in B2B environments
  • Ability to quickly understand engineered products and translate between customer needs, commercial requirements, and engineering solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive, sales, and customer audiences
  • Strong financial and analytical capability, including market sizing, volume forecasting, business-case development, price and margin analysis, and evaluation of technical and financial tradeoffs
  • Ability to gather and synthesize information from customers, sales, market research, competitive intelligence, product data, and other sources into clear insights and recommendations
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities, making sound recommendations with incomplete information, and moving work forward with limited direction

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with solar, electrical, construction, building products, industrial hardware, or other engineered products
