Product Manager III, Recommendations Platform

Expedia’s Search and Recommendations Domain team builds search and recommendation experiences that help travelers move from first keystroke to final choice across BEX, HCOM, and Vrbo. In this role, you will guide the product direction for Expedia’s recommendations platform, focusing on scalability, adoption, and the quality of recommendation outcomes.

As a Product Manager III, you will own both the strategy and execution for the recommendations console and the underlying models and capabilities. Your work will connect product experimentation and measurement with machine learning delivery, supported by quality guardrails, so recommendation experiences can scale with evolving business needs.

Role scope

• Set strategic direction for the recommendations platform, including how the recommendations console works alongside experience product counterparts and internal stakeholders.
• Own console usage for configuring recommendations, plus the strategy to make configuration steadily faster and easier while expanding adoption among dependent teams.
• Define metrics and an experiment plan for recommendation quality, run reviews against those measures, and determine actions based on insights.
• Own the roadmap for recommendations models and capabilities to ensure stakeholder requirements are met and the platform scales with changing business needs.
• Partner with machine learning science, engineering, and machine learning engineering to deliver capabilities under defined quality guardrails.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a platform or capability other teams build on top of.
• Demonstrated experience taking products from concept through scaled adoption.
• Data fluency, including proficiency with experimentation tooling and the data analysis used to design and evaluate tests.
• Experience with machine learning backed products such as ranking or recommendation systems.

The Search and Recommendations Domain team powers search for BEX, HCOM, and Vrbo from first keystroke to final choice, using intelligent forms, typeahead, and natural language–driven ranking and recommendations to balance traveler value, booking quality, and conversion with monetization and marketplace needs.

Compensation and location

• Location: Seattle, WA (onsite) only
• Salary: USD 137,500 to 220,000 per year
