Product Manager - Modelling and Simulation

UL Solutions is hiring a Product Manager for model-based assurance services supporting complex engineering systems. This Northbrook, IL hybrid role focuses on translating customer problems and market signals into clear product direction, roadmaps, requirements, and measurable outcomes for model validation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.

In this position, you will help shape services that teams can trust and scale, aligning delivery with UL Solutions quality expectations while connecting product strategy to relevant standards and industry expectations. You will also partner across technical, commercial, certification, testing, software, and delivery groups to ensure product outputs are credible, useful, and launch-ready.

What you’ll do

• Set product direction, roadmap priorities, and success measures for model-based assurance services.
• Translate customer needs and market signals into product priorities and backlog direction.
• Prioritize requirements, workflows, and enablement needs to support adoption and delivery.
• Build business cases, value propositions, and positioning for services and offerings.
• Define product requirements for model-based assurance, including model validation needs and HIL-related service development.
• Work with cross-functional teams (technical, commercial, certification, testing, software, and delivery) to move from requirements to execution.
• Ensure product outputs are useful, credible, scalable, and aligned with UL Solutions quality expectations.
• Support go-to-market planning, provide input to pricing, and help prepare sales enablement and launch readiness.
• Develop clear product messaging, enablement materials, and leadership updates.
• Connect product direction to relevant standards and industry expectations.
• Represent UL Solutions in customer, industry, and partner discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, business, or a related field.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in product management, technical product management, digital solutions, engineering services, consulting, or a related technical business role.
• Experience should include roadmaps, requirements, business cases, launch plans, and collaboration with technical teams.
• Product management training or certification is a plus.
• Project management certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of model validation, modeling and simulation, data integration, HIL environments, and verification and validation.
• Ability to turn technical methods into practical services, product requirements, enablement materials, and commercial offerings.
• Sound product judgment balancing customer needs, business value, and technical feasibility.
• Clear communication across technical, commercial, customer, and executive audiences.
• Experience facilitating discovery, interviews, and requirement discussions, with the ability to lead across teams and manage ambiguity to deliver measurable results.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: USD 125,000 to 140,000 per year.
