Product Manager/Product Owner, Data Science Storm Insights
Job Description
Remote Product Manager and Product Owner for Data Science Storm Insights, responsible for defining vision, strategy, and backlog while coordinating cross-functional delivery in a remote team.
Responsibilities
- Articulate the Storm Insights vision, goals, and success metrics, and define the release-oriented plan.
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap and release schedule.
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform strategic direction.
- Translate Client Success feedback into actionable product opportunities.
- Align product plans with overall company strategy and portfolio priorities.
- Own and continuously refine the Storm Insights backlog.
- Convert roadmap priorities and client use cases into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and designers to plan and deliver each release.
- Lead agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Validate delivered functionality and coordinate user acceptance testing with Client Success.
- Monitor delivery progress, dependencies, and risks, and communicate status to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Ability to translate complex and ambiguous data into a clear product direction.
- Strong understanding of utility operational data (outage, weather, AMI, GIS, asset, SCADA) and its impact on storm readiness and restoration workflows.
- Familiarity with storm operations lifecycles, including forecasting, staging, crew assignment, situational awareness, and restoration.
- Capability to balance strategic vision with day-to-day delivery tasks.
- Collaborative working style with both internal client-facing teams and technical groups.
- Clear and proactive communication with technical and business stakeholders.
- Curiosity, grit, and a bias for action in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
- 4+ years of experience in software product management, product ownership, or business analysis.
- Proven track record delivering data-driven SaaS or analytics products from idea to MVP to ongoing improvement.
- Hands-on experience writing user stories, managing backlogs, and working in agile delivery teams.
- Experience with electric utilities or storm operations, especially in control center or grid operations (preferred).
- Background in data science, engineering, or software development is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
