Job Description

Anduril Industries is hiring a Product Operations Engineer to architect how the company observes, maintains, and evolves the deployed Sentry fleet for Air Defense and Counter-Intrusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep technical understanding of the Sentry system, including hardware and software, and serve as the product operations SME for Sentry across both business lines.
  • Partner with product engineering to design, deploy, and continuously improve the system that runs RCCA (root cause corrective action) cycles on fielded Sentry towers, from failure capture through corrective action deployment.
  • Convert fleet failure data, field feedback, and reliability trends into actionable product improvement signals for engineering, informing next-generation Sentry hardware and software design.
  • Apply and mature FRACAS (failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action) practice for Sentry, defining how failures are classified, tracked, and closed to make reliability improvement measurable.
  • Develop and deploy uptime reporting to measure and support customer capability availability, translating telemetry into fleet health metrics used by program, product, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Build and improve observability tooling in partnership with hardware and software engineering, keeping coverage aligned with new Sentry variants and new site deployments.
  • Own and continuously improve the Sentry knowledge base for field operations so operational knowledge is codified, accurate, and usable by any level of on-call support.
  • Expand self-service resources, including runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides, to resolve more issues at the point of need and improve characterization of escalations.
  • Lead iterative design cycles across product operations, engineering, and deployment functions, aligning on what to change and driving implementation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product operations, technical support, site reliability, or comparable technical operations roles supporting deployed hardware and software systems, with demonstrated growth in scope and ownership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience (military, industrial, or field support).
  • Technical depth in robotics, mechatronics, or complex electromechanical systems, including the ability to reason across hardware, software, and networking boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive RCCA to closure on complex systems, including how failures are captured, classified, and verified as resolved.
  • Experience leading iterative improvement cycles across multiple engineering and operations teams, carrying changes from problem statement through implementation.
  • Proficiency building monitoring queries, dashboards, and alerting configurations using observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or similar tooling.
  • Experience validating and verifying software changes on distributed or fielded systems, including rollout, verification, and rollback considerations.
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash) with a track record of building tooling that improves operational efficiency, plus fluency with Git and Jira or similar development and issue tracking tooling.
  • Ability to author clear, thorough technical documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capacity to coordinate technical and non-technical efforts across product, engineering, deployment, and sustainment functions, including across more than one program or customer at a time.
  • Proven ability to work independently: identify what needs to be built and deliver without close direction.
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

  • Experience with Linux system administration and command-line troubleshooting of electromechanical or networked systems.
  • Experience supporting autonomous sensor systems, counter-UAS systems, and/or complex robotics systems.
  • Experience building or owning a technical knowledge base, documentation system, or self service support resources.
  • Exposure to Anduril’s Lattice OS or similar command-and-control software platforms.
  • Experience operating in limited risk tolerance production environments with on-call responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours and weekends when operational needs require.

About the Team

  • The Air Defense team builds robots that find other robots and knock them out of the sky.
  • The Counter-Intrusion business line works on products that enable operators to protect people and assets from threats on land and sea.
  • Sentry is the primary product focus of this role and is fielded across both business lines.
  • Product Operations keeps the fleet healthy after it leaves the factory, working across product, engineering, deployment operations, logistics, and sustainment to turn field events into actionable improvements.
