Product Operations Engineer - Counter Intrusion
Job Description
Anduril Industries is building Counter-Intrusion products used to protect people and assets on land and sea. On the Counter-Intrusion product operations team in Costa Mesa, you will architect the way the deployed fleet is observed, maintained, and evolved to reduce incidents and improve uptime and reliability.
In this Product Operations Engineer role, you own the operational foundation for reporting, deployments, monitoring, and runbooks across both new and legacy products, translating fleet telemetry into practical ways to keep systems healthy.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain queries and dashboards for uptime reporting across the Counter-Intrusion deployed fleet, turning raw telemetry into actionable fleet health metrics
- Act as the product operations planner and executor for software changes deployed to towers, owning the lifecycle from change validation through rollout and post-deployment verification
- Partner with tower software engineering to develop and tailor monitoring solutions for new tower deployments, ensuring observability is included from day one
- Improve and optimize monitoring configurations for legacy products, closing coverage gaps and reducing alert noise to highlight genuine issues
- Continuously author, update, and refine runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides so operational knowledge stays accurate and usable
- Assess and raise the quality of the fleet’s observability and telemetry in partnership with product and engineering teams, defining standards for effective monitoring
- Analyze fleet-wide operational data to identify systemic reliability trends and surface risks before they become incidents
- Define and implement process improvements for deployment workflows, incident response procedures, and operational tooling based on data-driven insights
- Develop and maintain automation to reduce manual operational overhead across the fleet
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in a technical operations or engineering role with hands-on responsibility for production systems
- Experience in product operations, technical support, or site reliability supporting deployed hardware/software systems, with increasing scope and ownership
- Ability to build monitoring queries, dashboards, and alerting configurations using observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or similar tooling
- Experience planning and executing software deployments to distributed systems, including rollout strategy, validation, and rollback procedures
- Scripting and automation skills (for example, Python and Bash) with a record of building tooling that improves operational efficiency
- Experience with software development tooling such as Git and issue tracking tools such as Jira
- Demonstrated ability to write clear technical documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides
- Ability to work independently, identify what needs to be built, and deliver without close direction
- Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
- Active U.S. security clearance required
