Job Description

Join Bain PEG Innovation in Houston, TX on a hybrid schedule to lead the PE due diligence platform as a product owner. You will translate stakeholder needs into a practical roadmap and backlog, define success metrics, and partner with Engineering and Design to deliver high quality capabilities. The role carries a base salary of USD 140,875 to 176,750 per year, plus a discretionary annual performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. This role follows a hybrid model with in-office presence required at least one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap and backlog for an assigned product area such as Deal Screening, Due Diligence workflows, Portfolio Monitoring, or Report Builder; define outcomes, milestones, and sequencing.
  • Lead continuous discovery with stakeholders including analysts, associates, and partners to identify high value problems, validate hypotheses, and translate insights into delivery work.
  • Write and maintain epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable autonomous squad delivery; ensure work is testable, measurable, and aligned to user outcomes.
  • Define success metrics and instrumentation requirements for features; ensure releases have clear baselines and post release measurement plans.
  • Make prioritisation trade-offs across scope, quality, risk, and time to keep the squad focused on the highest impact outcomes.
  • Partner with Engineering to shape feasible technical approaches and manage dependencies including platform services, data contracts, and AI service integration.
  • Collaborate with Design to ensure UX quality, accessibility, and edge-case handling are addressed early; align on iterative delivery plans.
  • Own release readiness for your scope, including stakeholder communications, enablement materials, change notes, and rollout strategy.
  • Drive post release learning by analysing adoption and performance, conducting outcome reviews, and iterating based on evidence.
  • Lead squad ceremonies from a product perspective, including refinement, planning input, review facilitation, and outcome-focused retrospectives.
  • Act as the primary interface for your product area with cross functional partners such as Security, Data Governance, Platform Engineering, Data Platform, and the Agent / AI squad; align on requirements early.
  • Establish and maintain a clear Definition of Done for product outcomes with Engineering and QA, covering quality, observability, documentation, and operational readiness.
  • Use AI tooling to accelerate PRD drafting, stakeholder synthesis, and prioritisation artifacts, applying editoral judgement and validating facts before sharing.
  • Support hiring, interviewing, and mentoring of Product Analysts or Associate PMs as applicable, elevating product practice through coaching and feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, consulting, or product strategy delivering software in production environments.
  • Proven ability to own a backlog and lead cross functional delivery (Product, Design, Engineering) with prioritisation and dependency management.
  • Demonstrated skill in translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into well-scoped epics and stories with measurable outcomes and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience using data to inform product decisions, including defining KPIs, interpreting dashboards, and iterating based on evidence.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities; able to communicate trade-offs, progress, and outcomes to senior leaders.
  • Outcome-driven roadmap ownership with ability to set OKRs, sequence work pragmatically, and maintain focus on measurable impact.
  • Excellence in requirements: clear PRDs, stories, acceptance criteria, and anticipation of edge cases to ensure testability.
  • Effective prioritisation discipline that explicitly balances user value, delivery risk, quality, and operational considerations.
  • Cross-functional leadership: aligns Engineering, Design, Data Platform, and Platform teams while managing dependencies without surprise work.
  • Product analytics proficiency: KPI design, adoption measurement, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative signals for decisions.
  • Strong communication skills: concise executive updates, clear decision logs, and facilitation of stakeholder discussions.
  • Understanding of user facing implications of AI features, including non-determinism, latency, context limits, and hallucination risk; bake constraints into requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Partnership with the Agent / AI squad to define evaluation-ready requirements and ensure regression gates for changes.
  • Experience using AI tooling to accelerate PRDs, OKRs, prioritisation drafts, and stakeholder communications; validate accuracy and remove speculation.
  • Ensure AI features meet safety and data handling requirements (PII, auditability, egress constraints) by coordinating with Security and Governance early.
  • Deeply understand PE workflows and design for real analyst outcomes, not internal convenience.
  • Clarity in leadership: reduce ambiguity for squads through crisp requirements, priorities, and success metrics.
  • Follow-through mindset: measure results post release and iterate based on evidence.
  • Ability to move quickly with AI tooling while maintaining accountability for decisions and artifacts shared.
  • This role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least one day per week.
