Job Description

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Product Owner to support the Distribution Marketing portfolio. This role focuses on platform capabilities that enable campaign management, lead routing, and channel alignment, while representing the customer voice inside an Agile team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain the product vision, contributing to the portfolio vision and communicating it to the squad/team and to teams outside the portfolio or functional area.
  • Maintain a multiyear strategy and a north star aligned with organizational and stakeholder goals.
  • Work with the squad/team to establish and achieve product-level KPIs, managing products with moderate strategy, scope, and complexity.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring accountability for backlog content, prioritization, and clear, actionable user stories.
  • Set priorities and participate in quarterly squad/team planning, partnering with more senior Product Owners to support portfolio quarterly planning.
  • Set delivery expectations with stakeholders for new capabilities, features, and functionalities; participate in squad/team demos, retrospectives, and other ceremonies.
  • Work daily with the Agile working group to clarify business requirements, remove roadblocks, communicate frequently, and support alignment around product strategy.
  • Partner with IT and business leadership to align development and business goals, resolve open issues efficiently, and remove blockers to execution.
  • Monitor and maintain product health to support long-term viability and efficiency, balancing long- and short-term considerations with desired outcomes.
  • Analyze and report feasibility and cost of delay implications, including potential economies or other impacts of planned or potential product changes.
  • Account for regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints, prioritizing accordingly and negotiating across internal and external squads/teams to align priorities across teams inside and outside the portfolio.
  • Collaboratively build the squad/team product roadmap, contribute inputs from stakeholders, and may support program or portfolio-level planning.
  • Communicate expected value and any changes in value per iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etc.) based on the squad/team capacity.
  • Lead customer-driven design and usability testing within the squad/team, collaborating on CDD and UT across the portfolio and using market and industry analysis to support product positioning.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field, plus minimum 3 to 5 years of direct experience with Agile teams and 7 years of experience in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Ability to depict and explain complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences, and educate SBU or department(s) on business vision and plan, including change impact.
  • Ability to influence a diverse set of stakeholders, with strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with demonstrated ability to lead a team toward solution delivery and progress.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio is preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation under uncertainty.

Compensation and Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range reflects competitive labor market value for employees in these positions across the national market and provides opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual may have a compensation plan that includes commission and/or bonus earnings, with rates that vary based on multiple factors defined in the compensation plan for the role.

  • Estimated Salary: USD 106,000 - 197,000 per year
