Product Owner

Boston, MA $106k - $197k/yr Full time Posted 7h ago

Job Description

Liberty Mutual is hiring a Product Owner for the Distribution Marketing portfolio in Boston, MA (hybrid). This role is built for product leaders who want to represent the customer inside an Agile team, drive product vision, and help modernize the platform that supports campaign management, lead routing, and channel alignment. If you value collaboration, strategy, and measurable outcomes, you will play a central part in shaping what gets delivered and why.

What you’ll work on

You will collaborate with stakeholders to develop and refine product and portfolio vision, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities across the organization. You will maintain a multiyear strategy and a clear north star, then work with your squad to define and achieve product-level KPIs. As the owner of the product backlog, you will prioritize work, ensure user stories are clear and actionable, and prepare for quarterly planning in partnership with more senior Product Owners.

Day to day, you will partner with the agile working group to clarify business requirements, remove roadblocks, and keep communication consistent around product strategy. You will also collaborate with IT and business leadership to align development efforts with business goals, resolve open issues quickly, and keep execution on track.

To support long-term viability, you will monitor and maintain product health, balancing short- and long-term needs with desired outcomes. You will analyze feasibility and tradeoffs, including cost of delay and economies, to inform decisions about planned and potential changes. You will account for regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints while prioritizing accordingly, including negotiating alignment across internal and external squads.

You will contribute to squad/team roadmap development and influence stakeholder expectations for new capabilities, features, and functionality. You will communicate expected iteration value based on squad capacity and lead customer-driven design and usability testing, including collaboration on CDD and UT across the portfolio. Market and industry analysis will support how you position the product over time.

What you bring

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management, typically acquired through a Bachelors’ degree (business, computer science, humanities, etc.), plus 3 to 5 years of direct experience with Agile teams and 7 years in business, technology, or consulting
  • Ability to depict and explain complex ideas to varied audiences and educate SBU/department(s) on business vision, plan, and impact of change
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders with strong leadership skills
  • Ability to make difficult and quick decisions daily
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to lead progress toward solutions
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation under uncertainty

Benefits

Salary: USD 106,000 - 197,000 per year.
