Product Owner
Job Description
The Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value, reliability, and continuous improvement of established SaaS platform(s) used by internal teams. This role connects product planning with production stability by managing the backlog and roadmap, coordinating vendor and release validation, and monitoring ongoing service health.
Location and Schedule
- Location: Hunt Valley, MD (onsite)
- Compensation: USD 85,000 - 105,000 per yearly
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships across departments to understand business processes, user needs, pain points, and desired outcomes.
- Collect, clarify, and document requirements with stakeholders, end users, and subject matter experts.
- Organize requests for prioritization based on business value, user impact, risk, dependencies, and organizational objectives.
- Maintain a clear backlog and roadmap for enhancements, defects, operational improvements, and support-driven needs.
- Communicate priorities, requirements, constraints, and expected outcomes to stakeholders and vendor(s).
- Review vendor solutions, plans, estimates, dependencies, delivery progress, commitments, and service-level obligations, escalating gaps and risks as needed.
- Coordinate QA and UAT for release readiness, including defect resolution and consideration of business impacts, communications, training, and support readiness.
- Monitor service performance, incidents, recurring defects, user feedback, and operational metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Review major incidents, root causes, corrective actions, and delivered outcomes with support, operations, and the vendor.
- Maintain product knowledge and essential documentation, including goals, requirements, decisions, roadmap outcomes, and release notes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3+ years of Product Ownership experience, including Agile Scrum practices.
- Ability to lead through influence, facilitate decisions, resolve competing priorities, and align business, technical, operational, and vendor stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex software behavior, reproduce issues, assess business impact, and coordinate diagnosis and resolution with technical, support, and vendor teams.
- Experience creating clear product artifacts sized appropriately to the situation, including goals, roadmap outcomes, user stories, acceptance criteria, nonfunctional requirements, defects, operational improvements, and decision records.
- Ability to prioritize and organize customer feedback, product data, support cases, incident trends, and operational metrics to guide product and service performance.
- Customer-focused mindset with empathy, curiosity, sound judgment, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Proactive, adaptable approach when working through ambiguity, change, and deadline pressure.
