Senior Product Manager

Advantech USA is hiring an onsite Senior Product Manager in Tustin, CA to lead custom computing products from early concept through mass production and sustaining support. In this role, you’ll connect customer needs with cross-functional execution to drive dependable, competitive, and profitable products across the full lifecycle.

What you’ll do

• Turn customer and market input into product specifications, roadmap priorities, business cases, and development plans.
• Track market and competitive trends in embedded computing and mission-critical applications to uncover growth opportunities and inform product strategy.
• Own product cost, pricing, margin, and commercial terms, evaluating NRE, recurring costs, tooling, logistics, warranty, and risk to support profitable decisions.
• Lead customer and supplier negotiations, balancing technical requirements with delivery, quality, cost, warranty, liability, and related terms.
• Communicate product direction by presenting strategy, trade-offs, program status, risks, and recommendations to customers, senior leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Manage end-to-end custom product lifecycle, including NPI, mass production (MP), sustaining engineering, obsolescence, and end-of-life planning.
• Drive system-level product definition and alignment across architecture, hardware/software integration, validation and verification, regulatory certification, and customer acceptance requirements.
• Handle MP quality issues through root-cause investigation, corrective and preventive actions, rework, deviation/waiver decisions, customer communication, and RMA processes.
• Coordinate sustaining activities, including engineering changes, supplier and component transitions, cost reduction, quality improvements, and obsolescence efforts.
• Lead cross-functional development programs by setting clear requirements, schedules, milestones, risks, and ownership across engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, sales, and operations.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years in product management, program management, systems engineering, or a comparable role in technology or embedded computing.
• Knowledge of marketing and business development, including market segmentation, value proposition development, customer acquisition, opportunity qualification, account development, and go-to-market planning.
• Strong financial and commercial capability, including product costing, pricing, margin management, quotation review, and negotiation of business terms.
• Solid technical foundation with critical thinking and problem-solving to evaluate trade-offs and make practical decisions.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and influencing skills for customer and executive stakeholder engagement.
• Mission-critical vertical experience preferred, including defense, unmanned vehicles, public safety, aviation, or avionics.
• Experience leading custom-designed products through NPI to MP and supporting sustaining lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of system-level design, product validation and verification, regulatory certification, and production readiness for industrial or embedded computing products.
• Hands-on experience resolving mass-production quality issues, including failure analysis, corrective actions, rework, and RMA activities.
• Experience managing manufacturing partners across regions and time zones, with strong execution coordination across teams to meet quality, schedule, cost, and delivery targets.
• Highly desirable: experience with IPC/embedded computing, ODM/custom design, and related regulatory or industry requirements.
• Experience managing or leading teams, including prioritization, developing team members, allocating resources, and driving accountability.
• Cross-functional collaboration experience with engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, sales, and global teams.
