Senior Product Manager, Data & Onboarding
Job Description
Axion is building an AI-driven platform used to investigate and resolve actionable issues in manufacturing. In this senior, individual-contributor role, you will own the data foundation and onboarding experience that turns messy customer raw quality data into a trusted workspace engineers can rely on.
Working onsite in San Francisco, you will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Solutions, and Operations to define the data product vision and roadmap, reduce manual setup effort, and continuously improve the context and classification that AI agents use.
What you’ll own
- End-to-end onboarding path: data setup, transformations, mappings, readiness, and the customer’s first useful issues after data handoff.
- Data products strategy: collaboration with customers, engineering, and operations to shape vision, strategy, and roadmap, aligned to company goals and user needs.
- Repeatable onboarding: convert manual setup into product capability so new customers can be onboarded with less time and internal effort.
- Data structure and evolution: decide how customer data is structured, linked, classified, and translated into issues, including how this evolves as the product and AI change.
- Onboarding knowledge capture: determine what Axion must learn about customer products, components, and failure modes, then use it to improve classification, seed the customer knowledge hub, and provide better context for AI agents.
- Continuous learning loop: learn from every onboarding with Solutions, Operations, and customers, and feed improvements back into the product.
What you bring
- 5+ years in B2B product management, including experience with products built around messy customer data or AI outputs that customers need to trust.
- Hands-on data fluency, including experience owning data schemas, taxonomies, data ingestion pipelines, or similar data-product surfaces.
- Experience evaluating AI output quality, defining what correct means, using labeled examples, and demonstrating that changes improved results.
- A track record of repeatability, turning implementation, onboarding, or operations work into productized capabilities with internal teams as early users.
- Customer and operator judgment, working directly with customers and setup teams, running focused pilots, and improving the experience based on outcomes.
- Venture-backed startup experience.
Nice to have
- Experience in manufacturing, quality, warranty, field service, or another complex operational domain.
- Background in data preparation, data quality, data labeling, or evaluation products.
- Experience with taxonomies, classification systems, knowledge capture, or designing context for AI agents.
- Experience in implementation, solutions, or customer onboarding prior to product work.
Compensation and benefits
- Salary: USD 210,000 to 240,000 per year.
- Work with cutting-edge AI technology making a tangible impact in manufacturing.
- Collaborative, mission-driven team and supportive leadership.
- Generous time off.
- Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits.
How the team operates
- Move fast, work smart, and maintain a high bar.
- Respect time off and boundaries, while acknowledging that hard problems may require weekend pushes or late-night thinking sessions.
- Stay highly collaborative and connected throughout the day, with much of the communication happening over Slack.
- Share feedback often, keep discussions open, and ensure decisions and context flow freely.
What Axion values in the role
- Deep collaboration, with feedback as part of how the team builds.
- Low ego and contribution-based value.
- Bias toward action and iteration over perfection.
- Clear communication that serves the mission.
- Owner mindset with accountability for outcomes.
- Sustained excellence without glorifying burnout.
