Senior Product Owner - Agile

Truist Bank is seeking a Senior Product Owner to help deliver product and service experiences within the Scaled Agile Framework. In this role, you will partner with product managers to balance business, technology, and design priorities, translating strategy into day-to-day execution across delivery teams.

Role focus

As a Senior Product Owner, you will lead agile delivery activities, maintain a backlog of user stories, and support tactical execution throughout the delivery process. You may take broad responsibility for components of a complex initiative, providing direction for scrum teams aligned to the business solution vision.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery team priorities in PI planning, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies, aligned to larger experience platform priorities and vision defined by product management.
• Align with product managers to clearly articulate product strategy to the delivery team.
• Deliver new experiences by working with delivery, experience design, business, and operations partners to design new products and improvements to existing capabilities.
• Author and maintain the team backlog of user stories and serve as a subject matter expert on features, user stories, and product capabilities.
• Perform triage on critical issues, escalating as necessary, and communicate consistently and clearly with all concerned parties.
• Serve as a key resource to the development team for questions and clarifications, and coordinate business validation with a focus on fitness for use.
• Update leadership on epic and feature delivery schedules, including dependencies impacting deliverables and recommended solutions.
• Partner with solution architects and other technical leads to ensure solutions address program priorities while balancing client experience and technical integrity.
• Facilitate sprint planning with stakeholder groups to drive alignment and visibility into which features will be built when, ensuring adherence to the product roadmap and enterprise strategic themes.
• Facilitate sprint demos and provide final acceptance for completed user stories shown in sprint demos, ensuring each story meets acceptance criteria and its definition of done.
• Coordinate creation of release-specific business documents, including support model definitions, go/no-go approvals, internal release notes, and other release-related living documents.
• Manage risk by ensuring Product Management Lifecycle (PML) process and procedures are followed, supporting security, risk, audit, and related needs, including meeting action items and deadlines.
• Partner with product managers on evidence to support recommendations.
• Mentor other Product Owners on product delivery practices.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, design, or technology (or related field or equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
• 10+ years of banking, financial services, or other relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of product, analysis, technology, and/or design experience.
• 5+ years of leading cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience working as a Product Owner for Agile team(s).
• Experience defining and delivering large-scale business initiatives to execute on a product roadmap, including stakeholder management, requirements elicitation, test planning/support, and business-level product validation.
• Demonstrated technical acumen and ability to align product and technology roadmaps with the technology organization.
• Proven ability to translate strategic plans into tactical daily actions for execution.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Comfort managing concurrent projects in a fast-based, results-driven environment and making independent decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills, including creating and delivering succinct executive-level presentations.
