Job Description

Charles Schwab is hiring a Senior Product Owner to drive the Transaction Posting System within the Trading Application Platform Strategy and Support (TAPSS) group, bridging business needs and engineering execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously groom the product backlog, keeping it prioritized, refined, and ready with at least 2 sprints planned for engineering
  • Create clear user stories including acceptance criteria, technical enablers, and definition-of-done so engineering teams can execute without ambiguity
  • Collaborate daily with engineering, QA, architecture, and SRE across sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, demos, retrospectives, and release readiness reviews
  • Act as the real-time decision-maker for scope, requirement clarifications, and trade-offs during sprint delivery
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) including test planning, scenario design, coordination with business testers, defect triage, sign-off, and production release readiness
  • Triage defects and production issues, partner with engineering to reproduce and resolve, prioritize fixes against roadmap work, and communicate status to stakeholders
  • Translate trading, clearing, settlement, and posting business workflows into requirements and stories, ensuring teams understand the why behind the what
  • Work with business stakeholders, operations, downstream consumers, and upstream feeders to gather requirements, validate designs, walk through mockups/flows, and confirm outcomes
  • Coordinate across a large multi-team product group to align on dependencies, sequencing, integration points, and cross-team stories
  • Promote practical, responsible use of GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and other approved AI-enabled tools across the SDLC, including story authoring, acceptance criteria generation, test case creation, documentation, defect analysis, and release notes, while validating outputs for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Support adoption of AIDLC (AI-Driven Development Life Cycle) practices with engineering to embed AI-enabled tooling into requirements, development, testing, and support workflows
  • Maintain product documentation, decision logs, and knowledge artifacts in Confluence/SharePoint as a single source of truth
  • Drive execution to completion by removing ambiguity, forcing decisions, escalating blockers, and maintaining sprint commitments and quality

Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship now nor in the future
  • 6+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, application development, or related technology delivery roles
  • Proven experience leading UAT cycles: planning, coordinating business testers, triaging defects, and driving sign-off and release readiness
  • Strong technology background, such as experience as a developer, engineer, architect, QA, or deeply technical BA/PO, with credibility engaging in system design, APIs, data, and integrations
  • Demonstrated domain knowledge of trading, brokerage operations, post-trade processing, transaction posting, clearing, or settlement
  • Track record driving stories from concept through production in a large, multi-team product organization
  • Strong story-writing and acceptance-criteria discipline, with rigor in backlog grooming and sprint execution ownership
