Senior Product Owner – Transaction Posting System
Job Description
Charles Schwab is hiring a Senior Product Owner to drive the Transaction Posting System within the Trading Application Platform Strategy and Support (TAPSS) group, bridging business needs and engineering execution.
Responsibilities
- Own and continuously groom the product backlog, keeping it prioritized, refined, and ready with at least 2 sprints planned for engineering
- Create clear user stories including acceptance criteria, technical enablers, and definition-of-done so engineering teams can execute without ambiguity
- Collaborate daily with engineering, QA, architecture, and SRE across sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, demos, retrospectives, and release readiness reviews
- Act as the real-time decision-maker for scope, requirement clarifications, and trade-offs during sprint delivery
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) including test planning, scenario design, coordination with business testers, defect triage, sign-off, and production release readiness
- Triage defects and production issues, partner with engineering to reproduce and resolve, prioritize fixes against roadmap work, and communicate status to stakeholders
- Translate trading, clearing, settlement, and posting business workflows into requirements and stories, ensuring teams understand the why behind the what
- Work with business stakeholders, operations, downstream consumers, and upstream feeders to gather requirements, validate designs, walk through mockups/flows, and confirm outcomes
- Coordinate across a large multi-team product group to align on dependencies, sequencing, integration points, and cross-team stories
- Promote practical, responsible use of GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and other approved AI-enabled tools across the SDLC, including story authoring, acceptance criteria generation, test case creation, documentation, defect analysis, and release notes, while validating outputs for accuracy and appropriateness
- Support adoption of AIDLC (AI-Driven Development Life Cycle) practices with engineering to embed AI-enabled tooling into requirements, development, testing, and support workflows
- Maintain product documentation, decision logs, and knowledge artifacts in Confluence/SharePoint as a single source of truth
- Drive execution to completion by removing ambiguity, forcing decisions, escalating blockers, and maintaining sprint commitments and quality
Requirements
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship now nor in the future
- 6+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, application development, or related technology delivery roles
- Proven experience leading UAT cycles: planning, coordinating business testers, triaging defects, and driving sign-off and release readiness
- Strong technology background, such as experience as a developer, engineer, architect, QA, or deeply technical BA/PO, with credibility engaging in system design, APIs, data, and integrations
- Demonstrated domain knowledge of trading, brokerage operations, post-trade processing, transaction posting, clearing, or settlement
- Track record driving stories from concept through production in a large, multi-team product organization
- Strong story-writing and acceptance-criteria discipline, with rigor in backlog grooming and sprint execution ownership
- Experience partnering with engineering to triage and resolve defects and production issues
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Rally, or equivalent Agile delivery tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent work experience
- Hands-on experience in AIDLC (AI-Driven Development Life Cycle) practices
- Knowledge of crypto trading, digital assets, or crypto books-and-records
- Experience with Schwab (or comparable brokerage) trading platforms, transaction posting systems, books-and-records, or downstream trading consumers
- Experience with SQL, APIs, message-based integrations, or reading logs to support requirements and defect triage
- Familiarity with CI/CD, test automation, and observability practices as they relate to Product Owner responsibilities
- Experience working across large product groups with multiple scrum teams, shared services, and platform dependencies
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills to align engineers, business partners, and senior leaders around shared priorities and decisions
- Ability to simplify complex technical and business trade-offs and drive decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Location: Southlake, TX; Austin, TX; Westlake, TX (onsite). Salary: USD 160,000 - 175,000 per yearly.
