Sr Product Owner - Enterprise Data

Thrivent is hiring a Sr Product Owner for an onsite enterprise data product team in Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of a cross-functional team delivering continuous value through compelling, empowering customer experiences
• Partner with the Product Manager and stakeholders to align work prioritization with Thrivent priorities, the overall product roadmap, and provide product development feedback and direction
• Develop and socialize product strategy with senior leaders across the organization
• Innovate and evolve the product aligned to strategic priorities
• Create, maintain, and evolve the product roadmap
• Maintain and refine the product backlog, including creating user stories and acceptance criteria and prioritizing stories by maximum business value aligned to product strategy
• Ensure stories clearly communicate customer and stakeholder needs tied to key business objectives and product strategies; provide consultation during agile planning and grooming sessions as needed
• Coach team members on effective product management and agile techniques to improve team capability
• Coordinate with other product teams to align product roadmaps and sprint plans to maximize business value delivery
• As a functional leader in an agile team, keep the team aligned around shared goals and objectives and attend all team meetings
• Engage with customers and users regularly to identify implicit and explicit needs
• Develop and track key value drivers to measure product discovery effectiveness and overall product performance; communicate results to stakeholders and business leaders
• Maintain urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to address unexpected obstacles
• Inspire others to deliver challenging goals with high performance standards while committing to the organization’s direction (Product/Agile/DevOps)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 5-7 years of relevant business experience
• Experience with enterprise data products, analytics, reporting, governance, or data platform initiatives in financial services or other highly regulated industries
• Proven ability to define and measure product value using business outcomes, adoption, quality, operational efficiency, or customer impact
• Experience partnering with business leaders, data engineers, architects, analysts, and technical delivery teams
• Understanding of iterative development fundamentals and software development processes and procedures
• Expertise in Agile Product Management principles, stakeholder management, market and user research, technology management, and process design
• Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills across organizational levels, including facilitation and executive communication
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, translate business problems into actionable product priorities, and facilitate alignment across stakeholder groups
• Strong prioritization and tradeoff-management skills across competing stakeholder needs
• Ability to influence without direct authority across business and technology teams

Preferred

• Certified Product Owner or similar certification
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, or similar technologies
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, data quality, lineage, or master data management
• Experience developing and managing enterprise data products supporting analytics, customer insights, operational reporting, decision support, or AI-enabled capabilities
• Financial services experience, preferably life insurance, health insurance, annuities, product management, distribution, or advisor capabilities
• Expert in defining high-quality business requirements and proficient in Agile story writing
• Expertise with foundational product management tools, techniques, and principles across discovery, design, build, release, and measure
• Strong leadership skills to coordinate and motivate product teams even without direct reporting relationships
• Experience working in large, complex organizational initiatives

Salary: USD 132,814 - 179,690 per year
