Chat Product Manager
Job Description
Zoom is seeking a Product Manager to shape Zoom Chat’s core messaging experience, including direct messages, channels, and AI-powered interactions. This role works closely with Design, Engineering, and Data Science to improve everyday async collaboration through Zoom Team Chat.
Role focus
Zoom Chat is building the messaging foundation that helps teams communicate effectively at work. The Product Manager will influence how direct messages and channels evolve, with an emphasis on simplifying and improving key interaction patterns over time.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and help drive major areas of the messaging experience, spanning requirements and design through delivery and post-launch iteration.
- Define and drive the roadmap for improvements to core chat interaction patterns, using competitor and user research to identify and close experience gaps.
- Partner closely with Design on interaction details, information structure, and visual polish, providing specific UI/UX feedback beyond requirements.
- Identify and scope opportunities to embed AI-powered capabilities into core messaging workflows, leveraging prior experience shipping AI-powered product features.
- Translate customer, support, and research signals into clear product requirements and prioritized roadmap decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, and Research to scope, sequence, and deliver features against committed timelines.
- Communicate roadmap, tradeoffs, and progress to stakeholders across product, engineering, and go-to-market.
- Support a consistent, unified experience across desktop, mobile, and web clients.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Product Management experience, demonstrating end-to-end ownership of a product or major product surface.
- Direct experience shipping AI-powered product features (not only AI-adjacent tooling), with the ability to explain product decisions.
- Extensive product and UI/UX sense, comfortable working alongside Design on interaction detail.
- Experience in messaging, collaboration, or communication products.
- A track record of using competitor and user research to identify and close experience gaps versus industry-leading products.
- Comfort with a flexible schedule to support real-time collaboration with globally distributed teams, including regular early morning or evening meetings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to frame tradeoffs for both engineering and executive audiences.
- Comfort working across standard PM tooling for roadmapping, specs, and prioritization.

- This is achieved by delivering intuitive, integrated, and high-value communication experiences.
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 98,900 - 228,700 per year
- Minimum: $98,900.00
- Maximum: $228,700.00
- Zoom’s Total Direct Compensation philosophy considers base salary, bonus, and equity value in addition to base salary and/or OTE.
- Starting pay is based on factors including qualifications and experience.
- Location-based compensation structure may result in different ranges for other locations.
