Job Description

Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. is looking for a Data Product Owner to lead the execution and delivery of data products in the Finance domain as part of a Data Marketplace implementation. This is a hybrid role based in Hartford, CT, operating within an Agile product development environment where ownership, stakeholder alignment, and technical review play a central role.

What you’ll do

  • Manage project execution and ensure delivery of data products and projects within the Finance domain for Data Marketplace.
  • Monitor project milestones and deliverables, maintaining visibility into progress throughout development and launch.
  • Review, provide feedback, and provide sign-off on project deliverables including data architecture, technical design and solution, data model, data catalog, test strategy, test plan, and test results.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to translate business needs into solution requirements.
  • Lead stakeholder management and engagement with senior leadership across departments throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit needs, define scope, and prioritize data use-cases.
  • Plan project stages and define product direction by creating and maintaining data product goals, vision, use-cases, and Product Backlog Items.
  • Define and document product requirements, including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Partner with Data Architects, Data Analysts, and Data Engineers to support problem solving and solution design.
  • Support issue resolution by working with Data Analyst and Data Engineer on troubleshooting data discrepancies.
  • Guide BI development by collaborating with the BI Engineer on dashboards and visualizations, including feedback and sign-off.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Lead on project delivery timelines, estimated effort, and the delivery roadmap.
  • Work with Data team leadership, IT, and DevOps to plan and support product deployment and implementation.
  • Participate in Scrum events as part of Agile product development.
  • Contribute to data governance and data quality initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship to team members on areas such as data product build, data cataloging, data quality, and governance.
  • Communicate product updates and implementation details to stakeholders, including user training on product features.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Business Data Analytics, or a closely related field, plus 5 years of experience as a Business/Data Analyst, Software Engineering Analyst, Software Engineer, Data/Analytics Engineer, or closely related role.
  • Applied knowledge of the insurance domain and products specific to Property and Casualty Insurance, Reinsurance, and Specialty Insurance.
  • Applied knowledge of Insurance Finance, experience with financial and regulatory reporting, and advanced analytics implementation in the insurance domain.
  • Applied knowledge of data management practices, processes, and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with data architecture, data modeling, data engineering, data governance, data quality, data security and privacy, data reporting and data visualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Product development and management experience, including product ownership and project management.
  • Applied knowledge of insurance business workflows, systems, and applications, focusing on Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Distribution, and Finance.
  • Knowledge of source system applications including Guidewire, Duck Creek, and Dynamics 365.
  • Applied knowledge of insurance business metrics and key performance indicators (operational and financial), plus experience with relevant reports and dashboards.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams using Agile framework practices and product development principles.
  • Applied knowledge of third-party datasets and data integration for data enrichment and risk profiling and management in the Insurance domain.
  • Experience working on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP for data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Hands-on with Power BI and programming languages including SQL, R, and Python.
  • Experience with Agile Project Management Tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Rally, and Jira.
  • Ability to report to the Hartford, CT office 2 times per week (telecommuting may be available).

  • Salary: USD 210,530 per year
