Director of Product Design

The Director of Product Design will own end-to-end UX leadership for a rapidly scaling AI-driven visual development platform. This hybrid role in New York City focuses on setting and applying a modern design vision while building and scaling a high-performing product design function through strong cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of product designers, including identifying clear paths for professional growth.
• Own the hiring strategy for the design organization, defining interview plans and actively scaling the design department.
• Set and reinforce product design best practices across product discovery, delivery, and design iteration.
• Refine and consistently apply a modern, intuitive design system across the full product suite.
• Work closely with cross-functional partners, leading through example by engaging with users, identifying opportunities, and validating ideas.
• Contribute to the long-term product direction by shaping ideal customer profiles and user journeys using comprehensive market and user research.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience addressing complex UX challenges, specifically in Product-Led Growth (PLG) SaaS environments.
• 5+ years of experience leading, scaling, and developing high-performing product design teams in a high-growth startup setting.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit world-class senior design talent.
• Strong background guiding teams through rigorous user research, design exploration, and iterative refinement.
• Ability to balance user needs, design vision, and business objectives through pragmatic prioritization.
• Familiarity with, or strong interest in, AI and no-code development platforms is highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: USD $200,000 to $250,000 per year, plus equity.
