Job Description
Forward Deployed Product Manager responsible for end-to-end customer engagements in heavy industry, from problem discovery to deployment, adoption, and measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer engagements from initial problem discovery through deployment, user adoption, and tangible business outcomes
- Build credibility with stakeholders across field teams, technical staff, executives, and commercial buyers through deep domain fluency
- Convert complex customer workflows into clear problem statements, MVP scope, data requirements, user stories, and product requirements
- Collaborate with engineering and design to translate needs into stable, scalable AI powered solutions
- Accelerate pilot to production transitions by delivering value that encourages ongoing use after pilots
- Balance urgency, technical complexity, commercial value, and long-term product reuse when making tradeoffs
- Identify repeatable patterns across engagements and formalize them into scalable product and delivery playbooks
- Monitor expansion, renewal, and commercial outcomes with a variable bonus tied to account growth
What you'll do
- Own engagements end-to-end from problem discovery to deployment, adoption, and measurable impact
- Establish credibility with diverse customer stakeholders including field teams, technical staff, executives, and buyers through domain expertise
- Translate intricate workflows into well-defined problem statements, MVP scope, data needs, user stories, and product requirements
- Partner with engineering and design to deliver robust AI powered solutions
- Drive pilot to production transitions by delivering value that sustains long-term product use
- Navigate tradeoffs among urgency, complexity, value, and future reuse of the product
- Expose repeatable engagement patterns and convert them into scalable delivery processes
- Keep close to expansion and renewal opportunities, with alignment to commercial outcomes
Key requirements
- 5+ years in customer-facing, high-ownership roles such as consulting, forward-deployed product, or enterprise delivery
- Strong exposure to heavy industry domains—oil and gas, utilities, chemicals, or refining—as operator, engineer, or consultant
- Proven consultative engagement ownership with proven linkage to commercial outcomes
- Product experience, including writing tickets and collaborating with engineering and design
- MBA from a top program preferred (Harvard, Tuck, Stanford, Haas, Wharton, Booth, Kellogg)
- Experience in MBB or Palantir-type forward-deployed product roles preferred
- Startup experience preferred
- Hands-on familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and LLMs in day-to-day work
