Job Description

Cox Automotive seeks a Lead Product Manager for Retail Market Data to join the onsite team in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the data product end to end, including cleansing, quality standards, coverage, and publication
  • Help shape data sourcing and acquisition strategy by evaluating new data sources and expanding market coverage
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for this data product, advising internal teams on interpretation and effective usage
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify new use cases, surface pain points, and determine data product changes that drive business value
  • Define and monitor metrics for data quality, coverage, freshness, and user adoption
  • Adapt the data product to shifts in the retail vehicle market, aligning with dealer pricing needs and translating those into data requirements
  • Ensure product requirements feed the modernization and growth roadmap, partnering with engineering and architecture to guide pipelines and infrastructure decisions
  • Lead product delivery across two engineering teams using Agile practices
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog with clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate with stakeholders at all levels to align priorities and articulate trade-offs
  • Participate in discussions with external data vendors, addressing quality expectations and expansion opportunities
  • Collaborate with front end product teams consuming this data to ensure alignment with their roadmaps
  • Work with data science and analytics teams who use this data for enterprise reporting, forecasting, and insights
  • Explain technical data product decisions in business terms to non technical audiences

Requirements

  • A relevant bachelor's degree with six or more years of related experience, or a master's degree with four or more years, or ten or more years of related experience
  • At least six years of experience in product management, analytics, or related roles, preferably with backend data products, data platforms, or data pipelines
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to query data to assess product quality, coverage, and stakeholder use cases
  • Solid understanding of data products, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud data platforms
  • Comfortable engaging in technical data flow and architecture discussions
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record of presenting to leadership and translating technical concepts for business audiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the retail automotive market and dealer pricing dynamics
  • Experience with data stewardship, governance, or data quality management
  • Experience managing external vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools, Rally preferred
