Manager, Business Management - Product Owner, Strategic Finance & Transformation

Drive strategic finance and transformation through decision-support product delivery for NextEra’s multi-billion-dollar operating and capital decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for assigned decision-support products, from business problem definition through requirements, build, pilot, production release, and value realization.
• Translate business objectives into technical requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria, data requirements, and definitions of done; own the product backlog and prioritize by business value.
• Serve as a conduit between business stakeholders and technical teams; run working sessions with Business Management, PGD, Operations, and Finance to elicit needs, constraints, and edge cases.
• Represent business needs with fidelity to build teams and push back when delivery does not solve the underlying problem.
• Lead execution across multiple concurrent workstreams; maintain an integrated plan with milestones, dependencies, and risks.
• Run operating cadence including stand-ups, sprint reviews, and steering updates; chase decisions, remove blockers, and escalate early and specifically.
• Provide executive-ready communication with concise status updates, decision logs, and tailored readouts across audiences from field operations to senior leadership.
• Own adoption and change management: define the decision process and workflow, build training and playbooks, recruit pilot sites and early users, capture feedback, and drive usage to retire legacy processes.
• Define and track success metrics including adoption, decision quality, cycle time, and realized financial benefit; maintain transparent back-cast of forecast versus actual value delivered.
• Guard analytical integrity by ensuring built solutions preserve business logic, including objective, constraints, cost treatment, and risk adjustment; ensure requirements for data quality, controls, cybersecurity, compliance, and governance.
• Manage external analytics and consulting partners on scope, deliverables, quality, and timeline; protect internal ownership and ensure knowledge transfer.
• Coordinate across the Transformation Office portfolio: surface overlaps, shared data foundations, and sequencing trade-offs so initiatives work together as one coherent operating model.
• Manage a team responsible for improving a generating asset’s P and L, operations monitoring, and the development and assessment of value-added ideas to optimize asset performance and increase profitability.
• Review proposed budgets, monthly forecasts, financial analyses, ad hoc reports, and modeling.
• Ensure compliance with power purchase agreements, land leases, financings, and regulatory requirements.
• Resolve issues across multiple assets and/or states and present findings and results to all levels of management.
• Work with teams throughout the company in a manager or coordinator capacity; maintain close working relationships with partners, customers, and stakeholders.
• Recommend hedging strategies; negotiate commercial agreements.
• Lead or assist value-added projects including support for regional leadership strategic plans, mergers and acquisitions, project development, asset optimization, restructurings, and building relationships with off-takers, landowners, and state and local regulators.
• Train and mentor team members; perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data or Information Science, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus).
• 8+ years experience (minimum), including technical or data product management, product ownership, analytics delivery leadership, technical program management, or a comparable role translating business needs into analytics and software builds.
• Demonstrated ownership of at least one analytics, optimization, forecasting, or decision-support product taken from concept through production and into real business adoption, including a specific, quantified outcome.
• Technical fluency as a counterpart to data scientists and engineers: comfortable discussing objective functions and constraints, model assumptions and validation, data pipelines and data quality, and trade-offs among accuracy, speed, and usability.
• SQL or Python literacy and hands-on experience with a modern data platform such as Databricks or Snowflake are a strong plus (not expected to build models).
• Excellent requirements craft: user stories, acceptance criteria, process and decision mapping, with discipline to make ambiguity concrete and testable.
• Proven execution and accountability: run multi-workstream plans, drive owners and dates, manage dependencies and risk, and escalate well; Agile experience and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Strong business judgment with financial literacy to understand revenue at risk, cost, capital, and risk-return trade-offs to prioritize by value.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence across different audiences; clear and concise executive written and verbal communication.
• Track record of driving adoption and behavior change through pilots, training, playbooks, and retiring legacy ways of working.
• Asset-intensive industry experience (energy, utilities, renewables, aviation, rail, marine, mining, heavy manufacturing, or logistics) is a plus.
• Familiarity with maintenance planning, scheduling, dispatch optimization, asset performance management, or total cost of ownership concepts is a plus.
• Experience working within or alongside a consulting or analytics partner delivery model is a plus.
• Experience with financial modeling, scenario analysis, or capital allocation frameworks is a plus.
