Job Description

The Manager, Cyber Security Product Owner role is responsible for delivering cybersecurity product outcomes for Cryptographic Services within the Data Protection domain. This position leads product vision and execution in partnership with cross-functional teams, using cybersecurity and cryptography expertise to strengthen cyber capabilities.

Role Summary

Own the product outcomes for Cryptographic Services in Data Protection. Accountable for the product vision, roadmap, backlog, and cross-functional delivery. Apply cybersecurity and cryptography knowledge to improve cyber capabilities and guide engineering execution toward customer and business value.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the delivery roadmap to technology teams by aligning execution with product vision.
  • Articulate and advocate target persona, customer benefit, and feature value across teams.
  • Use technical knowledge of how systems work and how code is built to support engineering teams in delivering value.
  • Represent the voice of the customer for engineering teams using PKI, encryption algorithms, data protection products and practices, and insights from public cloud and customer research.
  • Apply design thinking and analytics to inform product design.
  • Participate in research or design sessions for new features and new cryptographic domains, including post quantum cryptography.
  • Contribute to a healthy product backlog by collaborating with Product Manager, Engineering, and Solution Architects to break down business epics, document user stories (including technical debt, SRE, and related needs), define design details, and establish comprehensive acceptance criteria.
  • Lead internal backlog refinement sessions to clarify cyber and customer intent, prepare business epics and stories for technical breakdown and planning, and ensure requirements are understood by engineering teams.
  • Prioritize the Product Backlog to maximize business and customer outcomes by balancing technical and non-technical considerations, including cyber and operational risk reduction outcomes and activities.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the product manager, engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams and the Product Owner community, and participate in key Agile and SAFe ceremonies.
  • Support teams through escalation and resolution of impediments.
  • Drive performance and innovation through data-driven insights.
  • Proactively identify opportunities when metrics for security, resilience, and performance are not meeting expectations for your product(s).
  • Maintain technical and risk credibility with your team(s) and partners across the technology organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or information technology
  • At least 4 years of experience evaluating, contributing to, or supporting development of cybersecurity capabilities
  • 3+ years of experience in cryptography
  • 6+ years of experience solving cyber technical challenges
  • 4+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into products
  • 6+ years of Cyber product owner experience
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing
  • 2+ years of experience in scaled agile product management
  • 2+ years of experience of cloud products like AWS KMS or CloudHSM
  • Experience in regulated financial services organizations or tech companies
  • 2 or more professional certifications (SAFe PM/PO, CISSP, GIAC (various), CISM, CCSP, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Security)

Location and Work Model

McLean, VA (onsite).

Compensation

Salary range: USD 179,400 - 245,600 per year.

Role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
