Manager Product Design
Job Description
Manager Product Design at Alaska Airlines leads the design and delivery of high-performing employee apps and airport experiences, guiding a design team from concept to execution and shaping strategy for employee-facing software.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coach a diverse design team comprising Product Designers and UX Researchers.
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, and retention of top design talent.
- Collaborate with product management, UX Research, stakeholders, Airport teams, and software engineering to align roadmaps, vision, and strategy.
- Define and advance accessible, user-friendly solutions that balance evergreen and time-sensitive experiences.
- Foster a strong partnership with Product and Engineering to ensure quality experiences for employee-facing apps.
- Present design work to leaders and teams across the company and articulate design strategies that support user and business goals.
- Lead and participate in design thinking workshops to educate teams on user-centered design and insights-driven decision making.
- Develop talent through performance management and ongoing feedback, supporting capacity planning and personal growth.
- Shape cultural norms through action, presence, and reinforcing desired behaviors.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience in design or a related field.
- At least two years of leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of two years of relevant training or experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders via presentations and storytelling.
- Working knowledge of creative tools, including Figma and AI.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex design initiatives concurrently.
- Hands-on or broad knowledge across UX, interaction design, UI design, and UX Research.
- Keeping up with current design trends, best practices, and technology innovations.
- Experience taking projects from concept through delivery and ongoing optimization.
- Strong verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Role requires in-office presence near SeaTac, WA, five days a week.

Salary
Salary range: $149,600 - $224,400 per year. Pay will be based on location, relevant experience and skillset, with consideration for internal equity across Alaska, Hawaiian, and Horizon employees.
