Manager, Product Owner – AI/ML & Market Insights

AI and market insight product ownership at CME Group: you will shape the “what” and “why” behind machine learning and generative AI solutions across the derivatives exchange ecosystem. The work focuses on turning business needs into an actionable AI roadmap that can optimize liquidity, automate market research, and strengthen sales intelligence and marketing automation. This is an onsite role in Chicago, Illinois.

What you’ll do

• Spend the majority of your time partnering directly with internal stakeholders and business leaders to align expectations, communicate progress, and convert broad goals into clear, actionable requirements.
• Work with leadership to develop predictive client-intelligence models, uncover cross-selling opportunities, and forecast volume trends.
• Partner with researchers to productize advanced liquidity and market insights into scalable AI features, including order book depth, bid-ask spread dynamics, order flow, volatility modeling, and market-microstructure analytics.
• Collaborate with marketing teams to deploy generative AI tools for automated market commentary, personalized client campaigns, and predictive lead scoring.
• Act as a bridge between stakeholders and platform engineering, engaging engineering leaders early to assess technical feasibility and maintain strategic alignment.
• Ensure model delivery is supported by data pipelines that meet strict production standards for latency and quality, including sources such as historical tick data and order flow.
• Own and refine the pod backlog using value-driven prioritization frameworks such as WSJF, ensuring the team focuses on the highest-impact deliverables.
• Translate complex AI/ML capabilities into user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
• Run core Agile ceremonies for the pod, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning by drafting team PI objectives and identifying cross-pod dependencies within the Agile Release Train.
• Manage ad-hoc requests and new scope so delivery plans stay aligned with prioritized backlog goals and enable effective execution by the data science team.
• Define and track metrics for model performance (accuracy, precision, recall) and business impact (adoption, revenue, market efficiency).
• Ensure AI outputs are transparent, explainable, and compliant with strict financial regulatory standards.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Product Management, or related field).
• 3+ years as a Product Manager/Owner, ideally delivering technical or AI/ML solutions in capital markets, derivatives exchanges, or fintech.
• Foundational understanding of financial derivatives (futures, options), market liquidity, and order book mechanics.
• Strong knowledge of Agile; experience in SAFe is highly preferred, with SAFe POPM or CSPO certifications a strong plus.
• End-to-end ML lifecycle understanding, including data collection, model training, deployment, and drift monitoring.
• Ability to query data (for example, SQL basics) to validate assumptions, investigate issues, and drive data-informed decisions.
• Accredited AI/ML credential strongly recommended upon application and required shortly after hire (e.g., Google Cloud PMLE, Generative AI Leader, Google Cloud Skill Badges, or Google AI Essentials).
• Proven ability to translate between technical data science teams and business stakeholders, turning complex models into business value and commercial goals into clear technical requirements.
• Collaborative approach and a track record of balancing competing priorities across diverse stakeholders.

Compensation and benefits

• Annual base salary range: USD 81,100 - 135,100
