Principal Product Operations Manager - Launches
Job Description
The Principal Product Operations Manager - Launches role at Socure focuses on building launch operational rigor and cross-functional alignment so product releases stay visible, on track, and clearly owned. The position will lead a Launch Operations function, run a recurring launch accountability forum, and translate roadmap and issue tracking inputs into consistent launch progress visibility.
Role Overview
You will build and lead a small Launch Operations team to maintain clear visibility across upcoming product launches and keep Product Management-led execution aligned through the PM-owned launch checklist. This role starts as a senior individual contributor to establish the operating model, demonstrate measurable success, and inform team growth.
Launch Operations Responsibilities
- Build and lead a small Launch Operations team focused on launch visibility and cross-functional alignment using the Product Manager-owned launch checklist.
- Provide operational backbone that supports PMs in quarterbacking product strategy, narrative, and customer readiness while ensuring major milestones stay on track.
- Ensure launch work is assigned, dated, visible, and actively moving forward, with a standing ownership model that guarantees accountability.
- Collaborate with Product Marketing, Legal, RevOps, Engineering, and other teams to make execution seamless and support world-class launches.
- Set up and run a weekly launch check-in, including a leaderboard-driven approach informed by Product Manager input tools.
- Facilitate discussions as a driving force in the room by spotting risks early and testing resolution plans, while keeping work moving without taking over task execution.
- Maintain an accountability cadence across launch sizes, from major PR and investor launches to smaller feature updates and multi-tier initiatives.
- Shift the checklist away from PMs managing every detail toward functional leads owning direct tasks, such as Legal for legal approvals, PMM for product naming, and Revenue Operations for SKU setups.
- Partner with Product Operations to evolve the checklist over time by adding or removing items as needs change and by distinguishing systemic gaps from one-off issues.
- Share launch digests and updates with partner groups including PMM, Legal, Engineering, Support, and RevOps so open items remain top of mind.
- Enforce execution discipline: items are not ready for launch unless they are assigned, dated, and visible.
- Pull target launch dates directly from roadmap tooling such as Aha! or Jira rather than maintaining manually updated spreadsheets.
- Define criteria for when items enter the launch checklist process, typically 6 to 12 weeks before launch, and guide the initial workflow.
- Adapt alongside Product Operations systems and tools as automation improves tracking views and the operational system matures.
Required Experience
- 15+ years of experience in Product Operations, Program Management, or cross-functional tech operations within product or engineering teams.
- Proven ability to run effective accountability rhythms such as recurring reviews, status dashboards, and operating cadence to drive results through influence.
- Demonstrated success managing or building teams of contractors and FTEs from the ground up.
- Comfort working with product roadmap tools including Aha! and Productboard, and issue tracking software such as Jira or Linear; familiarity with spreadsheets and basic analytics is required.
- Good understanding of product and software development lifecycles across multiple launch scales, including new products and enhancements.
- Strong meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to align stakeholders and secure clear commitments.
- Clear written communication that enables leadership and partner teams to quickly digest progress updates and key takeaways.
- Ability to implement practical, hands-on processes now while identifying opportunities to automate and scale over time.
