Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of features and workflows for the online research platform used in clinical and cognitive studies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance functionality based on feedback from researchers, study teams, and participants, translating needs into requirements and actionable tasks.
  • Coordinate with developers, researchers, and external collaborators to support the full product lifecycle from scoping to deployment and iteration.
  • Apply strong project management and organizational skills to oversee multiple concurrent studies and development efforts across contracts.
  • Lead technical discussions, contribute to documentation, and support user training to ensure effective adoption of platform technologies.
  • Use platform metrics to inform decisions, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement.
  • Support the deployment, maintenance, and integration of other applications beyond the online research platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in neuroscience, biology, cognitive science, or a related field with at least one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in relevant roles.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues critical to organizational needs and to deliver features, fixes, and enhancements for an online research platform.
  • Skill in researching, collecting, and analyzing targeted information to inform product options or alternatives.
  • Strong organization and project management capabilities to handle multiple concurrent studies and platform initiatives, prioritizing requests across study teams and contracts.
  • Effective oral communication skills for clear information sharing.
  • Strong written communication skills to draft clear documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Experience leading and building consensus across interdisciplinary teams, including study teams and internal and external constituencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Ability to translate participant, study team, and stakeholder needs into product requirements and actionable development tasks.
  • Capability to manage product development workflows across the full lifecycle, from scoping and development to QA, deployment, and iteration.

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced coursework or training in data analysis, product management, or digital health
  • Experience supporting or managing digital platforms at scale, including multi-study and multi-user systems
  • Knowledge of product development concepts, practices, standards, processes, and tools like Asana, ClickUp, Plane or similar
  • Working knowledge of web-based platforms, cloud services, and data collection tools (AWS, Firebase, Qualtrics) and their use in research workflows
  • Experience coordinating international collaborations and multiple studies
  • Ten or more years of clinical research trial experience
  • Experience with IRB protocols and regulatory processes in clinical or research environments
  • Ability to align study-centric needs with practical delivery requirements for online clinical trial research

Salary information

The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy approvals. Your placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity within UCSF’s position classification. For union represented roles, placement within the range follows the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
