Product Owner
Job Description
Sinclair Broadcast Group is seeking a Product Owner to steer software product development from concept through launch for internal corporate users. This role emphasizes measurable outcomes, solving real user needs, and working closely with the scrum team to keep requirements and delivery aligned.
Location and Employment Details
- Location: Hunt Valley, MD (onsite)
- Compensation: USD 88,000 to 110,000 per year
- Experience: Minimum 3 years
Responsibilities
- Conduct user research to understand user needs, challenges, and pain points.
- Convert user insights into clear, actionable product requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and users.
- Refine user stories with business stakeholders on a weekly basis to ensure requirements are clear, complete, and development-ready.
- Collaborate with technical teams to define feasible product solutions.
- Participate in brainstorming and design sessions.
- Create and prioritize product backlog items, including user stories and bugs.
- Maintain a clear, transparent, and accessible product backlog for stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary interface with the scrum team, guiding work tied to product backlog items.
- Participate in scrum ceremonies and provide necessary clarifications.
- Develop deep working knowledge of assigned product areas.
- Act as a go-to resource for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain essential product documentation, including Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
- Ensure documentation is current and clearly communicates product vision and requirements.
- Author and maintain internal release notes that document new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and known issues.
- Organize and conduct UAT sessions, collecting and incorporating user feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of Product Ownership experience (or equivalent professional experience).
- Strong comfort using and troubleshooting intricate software.
- Proven ability to think strategically and creatively about complex problems.
- Proactive, positive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities.
- High adaptability and flexibility, including working under deadline pressure and managing ambiguity and change.
- Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and lead without formal authority.
- Experience with Agile Scrum development methodologies.
- Ability to produce high-quality requirements documentation (including agile stories and PRDs).
- Natural empathy for customers and a commitment to discovering and solving user problems.
- Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative data to guide product decisions.
- Competence in identifying key metrics and interpreting trends and results.
