Product Owner

Own a roadmap that improves the resident experience end-to-end. At Sun Communities, Inc., you will lead the vision, development, and continuous improvement of Sun’s NetSuite by enhancing digital tools that support the full resident lifecycle. This onsite role in Southfield, MI pairs product ownership with measurable outcomes, helping ensure digital experiences are usable, valuable, and aligned with business goals.

• Salary: USD 90,000 - 115,000 per year
• Location: Southfield, MI (onsite)
• Core focus: Customer Portal enhancements, digital engagement, and ongoing improvements to the NetSuite product experience

Responsibilities

• Define, communicate, and prioritize product roadmaps, feature enhancements, and release plans using customer insights, business goals, stakeholder input, and technology trends (essential).
• Collect and translate feedback from residents, business stakeholders, and internal users into actionable product features and requirements (essential).
• Collaborate with the business analyst and development team in an agile environment to keep requirements clear and deliver features on time (essential).
• Work with UX/UI designers to deliver intuitive and elegant digital experiences (essential).
• Act as a subject matter expert and champion for portal functionality and digital resident engagement.
• Track usage metrics, user feedback, and market trends to guide ongoing enhancements and innovations.
• Continuously advance the Customer Portal to improve value, ease of use, and engagement across the resident lifecycle.
• May expand scope to lead additional projects, including internal team member mobile apps or other digital products.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field (required).
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or related role in digital product development (required).
• 1+ year building or managing customer portals, especially in property management or real estate (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
• Familiarity with web and mobile app development and platform best practices (iOS).
• Strong skills in requirements gathering, road mapping, user story creation, and agile development.
• Collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Ability to interpret analytics and customer feedback to drive product decisions.
• Familiarity with portal integration points between customer portals and ERP or property management systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of secure portal login experiences, digital payment tools, self-service workflows, and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance user experience (preferred).
