Job Description

Anduril Industries is hiring a Senior Manager, Product Operations within Frontier Systems (AFS) to lead product operations across the division’s portfolio and programs. This role owns service quality and reliability-to-sustainment improvements by converting field failures into actionable signals for product and reliability engineering, while scaling the organization as the deployed fleet grows.

Location

Irvine, CA (onsite)

Compensation

USD 147,000 - 196,000 per year

Role Summary

The Senior Manager, Product Operations leads and grows Product Operations teams to ensure support quality, scale resourcing, and translate field failures into reliability and sustainment improvements. The function is accountable for the health of the systems and technology that deliver capabilities to defense, law enforcement, and intelligence customers, including identifying, triaging, and driving resolution of incidents across the deployed fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Operations across the Frontier Systems portfolio, managing multiple teams and driving growth of sustainment capability and division-wide resourcing.
  • Own hiring, performance, development, and organizational design, while maturing the function through the operating model, standards, and people capability.
  • Ensure accountability for the quality of product support delivered to external customers and internal Anduril teams.
  • Understand work at all levels, from expected execution to actual operations, and close the gap between them.
  • Plan strategically for how support scales across the division’s full portfolio, including current and future products.
  • Extend Product Operations coverage to new products and programs as they reach fielded maturity, establishing scope, coverage, escalation paths, and support infrastructure.
  • Maintain service quality steady while the fielded population grows.
  • Align support headcount demand to measured support volume, fielded asset population, and product delivery schedules.
  • Own annual headcount planning for the function and produce defensible demand calculations when needed for planning cycles.
  • Own the workflow that converts field failures into structured, trustworthy signal for product and reliability engineering, including failure mode classification, corrective action cycle performance, and recurrence measurement.
  • Partner with engineering to turn individual incidents into systemic improvements, ensuring accountability for signal fidelity across both engineering partners and the Product Operations organization.
  • Establish and enforce standards for triage, diagnosis, escalation, and resolution of product incidents, including severity discipline and what reaches engineering and when.
  • Mature the sustainment approach for complex electromechanical products, covering evolution of maintenance and spares, hardware actions, configuration and calibration management, and self-service and tooling investments that reduce support burden over time.
  • Define and sponsor initiatives to mature the function, including end state, measures of success, and resourcing, and hold program management partners accountable for delivering targeted outcomes.
  • Serve as the point of contact for program teams assessing product and customer service support requirements for new and expanding programs.
  • Characterize service cost and define contract and pricing structures that fund it for proposals and modifications.
  • Represent product support to business line and division leadership through recurring reviews of fleet health, reliability trends, sustainment cost, and service maturation.
  • Surface systemic problems with evidence, drive cross-functional prioritization, and help technical teams, program stakeholders, and field operators align on shared understanding.
  • Travel up to 20% to support customer needs and operations, and work non-standard hours when required by fielded operations.

About the Team

Frontier Systems (AFS) positions Anduril as a provider of specialized hardware and software products for defense, law enforcement, and intelligence customers. Product Operations is accountable for the health of the systems and technology that deliver those capabilities, converting incident learning into reliability and sustainment insights that product and engineering teams act on.

The team coordinates with product engineering, reliability, quality, program management, and field operations to maximize capability availability for end users and inform iteration cycles.

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Product Operations for Frontier Systems, you will own product operations across the division’s portfolio and the programs delivering those products. You will lead multiple Product Operations managers, each managing teams of technical specialists and engineers supporting and improving fielded products. This role is designed to scale support as the portfolio expands and products reach fielded maturity, combining function maturation with day-to-day operating execution.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience managing, mastering, and supporting complex technical systems (robotics, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other electromechanical domains).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, OR equivalent hands-on technical experience (military, industrial, or field support).
  • Experience leading managers and multi-team organizations with accountability for outcomes across more than one product line or program.
  • Experience owning incident-driven workflows at a standard-setting level, including triage, diagnosis, severity assignment, escalation, and resolution across a fielded fleet.
  • Technical depth to follow the work of engineers and specialists supporting fielded robotic and electromechanical systems, with ability to reason across hardware, software, and networking boundaries.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with product improvement or reliability lifecycles and processes.
  • Experience defining a sustainment model for fielded hardware across its service life, spanning maintenance, spares, and tooling or self-service investments that reduce support burden.
  • Experience building and defending quantitative models to size support demand, headcount, or cost, including owning annual planning for a function and documenting assumptions.
  • Project and program management ability outside a project management role, including decomposing requirements into deliverables and driving recommendations across multiple functions.
  • Ability to align senior cross-functional leadership and influence outcomes without direct authority, including briefing executive stakeholders on operational performance.
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, with confidence navigating ambiguity and establishing new ways of working.
  • Active or eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security clearance; holding clearances or prior background investigations is a plus.

Technologies

  • Grafana
  • Datadog
  • Jira
  • Git
  • SQL
  • Palantir Foundry
  • Linux command-line interfaces

Benefits

  • Comprehensive, competitive benefits package (available at little to no cost to employees) supporting health, recovery, and whatever comes next.
  • Highly competitive equity grants included in the majority of full-time offers as part of Anduril’s total compensation package.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing a product support or sustainment function from the ground up, including defining the operating model, growing the team, and running remote support operations for complex robotics.
  • Defense, law enforcement, or other government agency experience leading air defense, intelligence, and/or force protection teams.
  • Consulting or process maturation experience, plus formal training or certification in continuous improvement or project management disciplines (such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Agile, or PMP).
  • Fluency with structured root cause methods such as fault tree analysis, fishbone, or 8D problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of reliability engineering fundamentals, including failure distributions, mean time between failure and maintenance, and reliability growth.
  • Hands-on exposure to failure behavior of fielded robotic and sensor systems, including actuation, power systems, sensing, embedded compute, radar, RF detection, and electro-optical and infrared sensing, and ability to diagnose connectivity and networking faults across distributed field systems.
  • Comfort reading logs, telemetry, and test data, including hands-on use of Linux command-line interfaces and tooling such as Grafana, Datadog, Jira, Git, SQL, and Palantir Foundry.
  • Experience translating support scope into contract or pricing structures for operations and sustainment, and familiarity with proposal efforts.
  • Fluency with the data layer of sustainment, including incident management systems, asset and configuration data, service bill of materials, and cost association.
  • Experience in on-call support operations and limited risk tolerance environments.
  • An active U.S. Secret clearance or higher, prior military service, or a defense and STEM background.
