Senior Product Manager, Internal Tools

Redwood City, CA $180k - $270k/yr Full time Posted 4d ago

Job Description

Sunday Robotics builds robots that need reliable internal systems to schedule, test, maintain, and improve performance at scale. This is a rare opportunity to be the first dedicated Senior Product Manager for Internal Tools, shaping a coherent roadmap across robot operations and data workflows. Based in Redwood City, CA (onsite), you will drive high-impact product strategy for teams that depend on internal tooling to keep robots running and data flowing.

What you’ll own

  • Own the internal tools roadmap, translating scattered, reactive requests into a strategy that helps keep maintenance costs down.
  • Decide when to combine tools versus keeping workflows separate due to differences in user needs or security requirements.
  • Prioritize tools for robot testing, robot operation, and fleet management by balancing business impact with cross-team coordination needs.
  • Define fleet management capabilities including robot scheduling, repair tracking, delivering over-the-air updates, and surfacing real-time robot location and health.
  • Define requirements for dedicated robot testing spaces, coordinating robots, people, and space bookings, and enabling safety scanners, camera recording, and live streaming.
  • Create a path toward tests that can run without a person present.
  • Shape robot operation tools for distinct user groups, including data-collection and performance-evaluation teams, plus testing, engineering, and product teams running specific software versions or robot behaviors.
  • Partner with data operations and machine learning teams to scale data labeling and quality review tooling as data grows from in-house collection, external vendors, and robot performance tests.
  • Learn from internal users by shadowing technicians, robot operators, and data reviewers, then convert their workflows into clear requirements engineers can build.
  • Set priorities with software engineering, data operations, and other leads, including the ability to say no clearly.
  • Help determine where AI agents that take actions on a user’s behalf add value, versus where people should perform or control the work.
  • Define and track tool success metrics such as adoption, time to resolve operational issues, and the accuracy of what data reviewers can assess.
  • Over time, potentially expand scope toward operations supporting robots in customers’ homes, including customer support, remote robot operation, and tools for viewing diagnostic logs, aligned with the consumer product roadmap.

What you bring

  • 4+ years in product management, ideally on internal platforms, operations tools, or workflow software for businesses, with the seniority to independently set priorities and choose which tools and workflows to focus on.
  • Experience related to hardware, robotics, fleets of connected devices, or machine learning data workflows such as labeling, quality review, and model evaluation.
  • Strong discovery skills with non-technical users, with comfort sitting next to a technician to learn how work actually happens.
  • Technical grounding to work through tradeoffs with engineers on robot health and performance data, cloud services, data storage and access controls, and on decisions about combining versus separating tools.
  • Experience designing workflows that may be AI-assisted or fully human-performed, with judgment about when AI agents are appropriate.
  • Comfort with ambiguity at an early-stage company, including writing a first version of a problem statement that does not yet exist.
  • Bonus: experience with robot fleet management, remote robot operation, or test labs that connect real hardware to software-driven tests.

What success looks like in 6 months

  • Robot fleet operations have a coherent roadmap and clear ownership, with tools combined where appropriate and adopted by operations and support teams.
  • Robot testing and operation tools have scoped plans and agreed staffing that address distinct users and coordination needs, including a path toward tests that can run without a person present.
  • Data labeling and quality review tools have clear ownership, a roadmap for moving robot evaluation results into a cloud-based viewer, and a plan supporting a growing data operations team.

Compensation
